Here at VersionTracker, we are huge fans of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Most of us have one or the other or even both. Since we’ve starting surfing the web on our iPhones, we’ve realized that it can be hard to navigate around VersionTracker using the device since there is so much content on our web pages.
Therefore, we’ve created an iPhone optimized version of the site, a VersionTracker web application. Currently, you need to go to www.versiontracker.com/i/ to access the web app, but eventually it will be the default view of the site when you visit from your iPhone.
Now, it’s important to mention up front that this web app does not duplicate all of the site features. It’s a simple, easy to use interface to view the latest software updates and to browse for software.
With version 1.0 of the VersionTracker web app, you can view the latest updates, top downloads, and editors’ picks for Mac OS X, Windows, Palm OS, and Mac Classic. You can also browse updates by category for those platforms. When you view a product page, you’ll see the product description, rating, number of downloads, cost, license type , category, and release date. You can also email the product page link to yourself or a friend using the built in mail client on the iPhone or Touch.
Once you try out our new web app, let us know what you think by posting your comments here. We always strive to make our products better, so we appreciate your feedback.
