Submitted by JuliaDuncan on Thu, 2007-11-01 19:33.

The excitement seems to never end here at CNET TechTracker, and this week we are excited to announce the release of VersionTracker Pro Mac 4.5. While it’s chock-full of software-update goodness, there are two features that stand above the rest:

  • VersionTracker Pro is Leopard Ready! Use the OS filtering feature of VersionTracker Pro to tell you when your favorite applications have been updated for Mac OS X 10.5, the latest and greatest version of Apple's OS.

On October 26, Apple released the Leopard OS to the world. Within the following four days, more than 2 million copies of Leopard were sold. Early reports reveal that up to 20% of early adopters are experiencing significant issues after updating. As always, MacFixIt is here to help.

MacFixIt has solutions for many of the initial problems along with a comprehensive list of Leopard-incompatible hardware and software, troubleshooting reports concerning the "blue screen of death," faulty discs, and AirPort issues, and a recommended procedure for upgrading. See the Leopard page for full coverage.

All of us here at CNET TechTracker are excited about last week’s release of VersionTracker Pro Windows 4.0, a new CNET service. The release includes:

  • Better Software Matching - a new software matching technology provides the most accurate match with the VersionTracker database.
  • Faster Scanning - up to 50% faster than the previous version.
  • New Uninstall Feature - from within VersionTracker Pro, you can remove software from your system. Previously this could only be done through the Windows control panel.

VersionTracker joins the CNET family

A little over ten years ago, when I started VersionTracker, my intentions were both modest and personal. I wanted something to track software updates, to help me in my position as a systems administrator. Some friends of mine took interest in what I did, as did a few of the growing Mac sites on the Web. Before I knew it, VersionTracker.com became what I did every day.

Since those early days, VersionTracker has grown far beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m very proud of what we have built. I still get up every day, ready to check and post updates, and read your email. My job is to make sure the VersionTracker is the best update site out there, and I love what I do.
