HP DeskJet 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)
Ver. 2.2.1 causes Mail.app to quit when you try to print. This driver is still too buggy. Avoid at all costs. Deleting and re-adding printer; fixing permissions -- makes no difference. Don't even try this unless you have Ver. 2.0 available as a back-up. [alert admin]

Macromedia Flash Player X 7.0 r2 (Mac OS X)
Okay, so after updating to Flash v.7.0 r2, I follow macromedia's suggestion and try to check out the Nike Golf site, which is supposed to be some sort of showcase for Flash animation. Only the Nike site redirects me to a Nike page that says I can't view their site, because I need Flash "v.6.0 or later...." Arrrrgggghhh!!! [alert admin]

Marine Aquarium X 2.0.4 (Mac OS X)
Well, the install froze my hidden Dock in the show position, requiring a logout/login to set it right. Saving preferences caused System Preferences to crash, several times. The fish stutter a bit when they turn, despite 32MB video RAM and 1GB system RAM. But it is beautiful. Hope they iron out the bugs and optimize its memory usage a bit more. There's no reason why this shouldn't run smooth on my FP iMac. [alert admin]

iGetter X 1.9.5 (Mac OS X)
iGetter has always been more stable, feature-rich and easier to use than Speed Download. SD has the hype; iG has the goods. Auto scan for viruses. Auto UnStuff. Auto resume downloads. Auto quit. And it has always worked with every browser on the Mac platform, without the need for constant updates. [alert admin]

Connectix Virtual PC 6.0.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
What We've All Been Waiting For (Not!)
Airport Extreme support? Huh? How about USB support (that works)? How about wired networking that works? How about stability? How about . . .oh, nevermind.... [alert admin]

VersionTracker 6.5b (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Two days later, and Kurt still hasn't responded to my comments. I'm sure this isn't an intentional slight -- he probably didn't notice them. That's just one problem with this new format. It has sucked the life out of this site. Dialogue is dead. Please stop tinkering and put it back to the way it was. Please. [alert admin]

VersionTracker 6.5b (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Still ugly, slow, cumbersome to navigate. The number of people bothering to post reviews has dropped off markedly. Even the number of downloads of new versions seems much lower. Those lively, running dialogues are dead. People are voting with their feet. Don't you guys get it? You can dress up a pig all you want, at the end of the day, it's still a pig. [alert admin]

Update to my warning: You need to run the uninstaller, get rid of all of the old driver, then install the new driver. Then it works. Sheeesh.

Thanks for the tip. Uninstalling the old driver first solved the problem of Mail.app quitting when trying to print e-mail. Too bad VT's summary only says to delete the printer from the print que in Print Center. That's not the same as uninstalling the driver. Still, hp should make driver installers that overwrite the old files completely, rather than causing conflicts.

Thanks. Now it works. But what a dumb installer that doesn't put files where they can work.

You really don't get it? Broken URLs are the least of this site's problems. (The page in question is no longer broken.)

Oh, and I finally found where you "responded." You asked where I had found dead links??!! Wow. Talk about missing the forset for the trees! Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm willing to bet the price of a renewal subscription that your traffic is down, number of downloads is lower, number of comments posted has fallen off a cliff. True?

The last time I posted, you responded? Oh, forgive me, but I didn't notice because you now bury feedback under several layers of cruft. There. One example already. Separating comments by version only makes sense on paper. In practice, it is killing this site. Example two. The new color scheme is atrocious. Example three. You've added a passel of new features, most of which are of…
