EyeTV 2.0 (Mac OS X)

What are we paying for?

Poor marks because of the 50 fee. I love EyeTVs software in general but I honestly can't see how they justify the price for upgrades. It really doesn't have anything new other than the interface design and having live TV schedules available from the app itself instead of opening your web browser. And I second a previous comment that the older versions have all the buttons right where you want them. With version 2 you have to make extra steps for some tasks. Definitely not worth the money for those who have 1.8. [alert admin]

StickyBrain 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Not Quite Ready for Primetime

I love this app but, as with most of their major upgrades, it gets released before it's been fully tested. For me, the app hangs intermittently after grabbing text from web pages. Not every time, but often enough I can't use it. I would wait for further updates before deciding to pay for this product. [alert admin]

TypeRecorder X 2.12 (Mac OS X)

Dead Project?

Works well when it works. But it stops recording after a time and will only record again after rebooting (using 10.4). This has happened on multiple machines. I contacted support over this but they offered no solutions. Also, there hasn't been an update in ages. I think this software is a dead project. Try logKext. It's free and much more stable. VLC media player 0.8.1 (Mac OS X)

Wonderful App

Just wanted to respond to Peterpayne's comments: You can jump ahead and back either 10 seconds or 2 minutes at a time with VLC using their shortcuts. Just look in the preference panel to find them. I'd been using VLC some time before I found these. Also, regarding the screeching sound, I used to get that as well but lately it isn't there. Not sure why. [alert admin]
