ImageWell 3.2.2 (Mac OS X)

...

First, I've asked the moderators to remove appearance.tech's comment. Its just a baseless accusation that doesn't deserve any merit - and a pretty darn serious one to make against us or any other software developer. To ward off any other comments accusing ImageWell of bypassing firewalls to detect pirated numbers I'll post this in the open. ImageWell 3.2.2 has two pirated numbers inside the product that it checks - 125456b8a0093e567f10153e 12045688c123dd388122e153 If someone types either of these numbers in the registration field, ImageWell launches the web browser to point to a page with a message about software piracy and then ImageWell quits. It's just that simple. No phoning home, no bypassing firewalls etc. I don't even think it's technically possible for any application to shut off a firewall without the user typing in the Administrator password - this is what makes OS X secure. ImageWell 3.2 (Mac OS X)

ImageWell is free....

ImageWell is free. It's fully functional and has lots of features. There are Xtras you can upgrade to, for a small price, which requires a serial number. ImageWell will check for known pirated serial numbers. If someone types in a pirated serial number to unlock the Xtras, ImageWell will be disabled (both the free version and the Xtras) and that person's right to use any of our product will be terminated. A note to would be pirates: Enjoy the free version of ImageWell, there is plenty of neat features to use and don't be greedy and pirate the Xtras. [alert admin]

Image Cropping....

A special thanks for all the feedback and bug reports so far to help us make ImageWell 3.0 the best we can. The number 1 complaint so far is - the cropping features are too complicated in ImageWell 3.0 compared to ImageWell 2.1. We are working on redoing the UI to make it more intuiative and easier. Please continue to submit feedback and bug reports via the built in bug reporter. XtraLean Team [alert admin]

Parallels Workstation 2.1b5 (Mac OS X)

Quite nice!

Installed Window 98 SE: Installation went well, it's quite responsive on a 20" Intel iMac. It took a bit of 'work' mostly because the CD wasn't bootable and had to figure out a way to make a bootable floppy. Sound doesn't seem to work, but I'm assuming Win98 requires a sound driver that doesn't come with the basic install. Installed Red Hat Fedora: 15 minutes, up and running complete with sound. Will install Win 2K and probably get the sound function working with the right sound driver. Parallels is exactly what Virtual PC was - only faster because it's not emulating the Intel chip. I was expecting to install some 'Admin' priveledge stuff, but it installs quite easily without any fancy code requiring the Admin password - it's like magic! Tech support is forum based with lots of good information from other users. Having trouble? Visit the forum at http://parallels.com and your question is most likely been asked and answered. Into gaming? You'll probably want to do the Apple boot camp route, but for everything else this product will run Windows (and Linux) nicely in a window. Cons: It's a little rough around the edges, but that's to be expected from a beta. Developers seem to be very responsive to suggestions and improvements to the product. My wish: I hope they don't 'sell out' to a big company like Virtual PC did otherwise we'll probably never see what this product will become - which I think it will be the 'one' for PC emulation on a Mac. Congrats to the Parallels Team for a fine product! [alert admin]

Paradise 0.5b (Mac OS X)

Developer notes

This product is beta version 0.5 and will watermark your images with the word Demo. Also, this product does not have all the features implemented - we are peddling as fast as we can to get it to a version 1.0 release. So if you are looking for a finished product you are going to be disappointed - this one is not done, yet. Also the price on this product is yet to be determined. However, if you would like to try it out and provide useful feedback to us in what you would like to see in a WYSIWYG website editor we would love to hear for you. You can email us at support@xtralean.com or visit us at our open to the public discussion boards at http://support.xtralean.com. We are always trying to find ways to improve our products and our service to you. On that note, if you are going to give us 1 star for support on a beta product without even emailing or contacting us or 1 star for price on a product that does not have a price, please let us know what we can do to improve our rating for support or price. Also, if you have questions please email us rather than posting them here, Thanks! Hagen Kaye [alert admin]

How about the ability to change the dpi?

Hello, DPI is for print, there is no DPI when it comes to the web. Images are measured in pixels, not dots per inch on the web. ImageWell outputs images in pixels with no DPI information which is perfect for the web. DPI or dots per inch is a measurement that defines the print resolution. For example if you have a 4 inch by 3 inch picture at 300 DPI it will be better…

What about Galerie?

Hello, ShutterBug is available as a free download to try out - it will watermark your images until it is registered. ShutterBug and Galerie are two different products, and I think it would be best if you tried both and decided for yourself which product is best for you. Both products are easy to use and it won't take much of your time to quickly evaluate which of two is the product you are looking for. More…

Cracking piece of software

Whoops. The build number has been corrected on the server. You should see that you are up to date when testing for the latest version. We do have a build 221, which added German localization, but hasn't been released publicly, while we wait for the translator to proof read the translations. Hagen Kaye
