Opera 6.0b3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
using Chimera to review after an unsuccessful first attempt with this...this...crap! Sorry, I don't normally use those words in my reviews. Now I'm supposed to write it all over again? NOT! The gist...too feature rich and tries to please all tastes. Impossible. Poor rendering and speed. Back into iRoar, Hawai'i theme and Chimera Navigator. [alert admin]

Arabic Genie 2.0 (Mac OS X)
about this one, but extra fonts are very expensive. I'd kill just to add Lithos to Photoshop and Illustrator, but I'd have to spend big bucks just to get a font set that would include it. Cheap or free fonts look just that...cheap. At least there is a 30-day trial for this...without printing I think I read. Well, obviously you can't print, otherwise it wouldn't be a trial. Same as MS Word X...I liked that trial version. [alert admin]

Flux 10.0 (Mac OS X)
a perfect hybrid of Flurry and Solar Winds, not a CPU hog either. [alert admin]

iPulse 1.0 (Mac OS X)
and you will find out that this app uses a whole LOT of CPU. It is also irritating after using it for about 1/2 hr in Photoshop. It takes up real estate and it's distracting. Each time CPU use increases, so too does this app blossom in CPU usage. Simply dragging you mouse across the dock back and forth increases the amount of CPU this app uses to monitor CPU. Use the CPU Monitor in the far less obtrusive and transparent bar mode and view processes and disc use in process viewer. I love Candy Bar and this is a disappointment coming from IconFactory. Ridge 2.05 (Mac OS X)
up WAY too much real estate on the screen and I wouldn't consider it a "floating window" like othr floating windows. I couldn't make it transparent or click through and the set up and interface are too complicated and irritating. I would consider this a beta...and barely even that. I recommend NetMonitor X or X Resource Graph over this any day. They are both free...try them out. [alert admin]

DockFun! 3.5 (Mac OS X)
put your applications, documents or most other folders in the dock, click on it and scroll up to whatever you want to open. This would be a total waste of money and clutter, not to mention it adds more steps to what takes one single step. [alert admin]

VueScan 7.5.63 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
the SCSI interface is over. This problem is not only with scanners but also with other peripherals using this interface. It is too slow and does not meet the speed of USB and firewire. There is even less incentive for card manufacturers to write drivers for these as no new computers offer anything but firewire, USB, ethernet and wireless. There may be an adaptor to connect a SCSI to a USB cable and try that method. I don't know if such a thing exists. [alert admin]

to be a very buggy version. The previous release was more stable in many ways. In Photoshop, there is a slight delay with button releases and then responses using a marble mouse. It also reset a number of system preferences and window views after restart. I repaired all permissions after uninstalling the previous version and removing the remaining files. This is exactly what the beta version of this driver did. I am considering switching back to the previous release after I take a peek at this MouseZoom thing. Thanks for the tip. Does it use a lot of CPU like USB Overdrive I wonder? Has anyone noticed unusual spikes every so often in CPU monitor? I have. They weren't there before I installed either version. [alert admin]

one a lot. The CPU monitor is somewhat superfluous as this can be configured transparently in the lower left or right corner using that utlility in OS X, also for a dual processors and it is quite accurate. In dock mode the different colors are there. However, I like the disc r/w and net monitor function as well as making the text different colors to suit whatever desktop. I only wish it could be configured to scale net activity along with the precision of Net Monitor X. If this could be accomplished while maintaining its low CPU usage it would be perfect for me. Net Monitor 2.9b5 (Mac OS X)
a new one of these types of utilities, this one beats it hands down. The CPU usage was pretty equivalent during net activity. The other had a gigantic window whereas this is unobtrusive, transparent, resizable and click-thru. The precision of Net Monitor, down to 0.1 secs is awesome. I also like the connect via menu bar and the floating remote and local IP box. I already rated it five stars...too bad I can't again. I too would purchase a license without a moment's hesitation having used it for a few months. [alert admin]
