Konfabulator 1.7.1 (Mac OS X)
There's a lot to love about Konfabulator but here's what I hate: 1. It creates 3 folder in your docs folder: "Widgets", "Widgets from 1.0" and "Older Widgets." Come on, that's ridiculous. 2. There are no design guidelines for widgets. I prefer not to have 5 on my desktop in 5 completely different styles. I'm not sure Dashboard is going to be much better, but its all so visually busy. At least dashboard allows you to completely hide the widgets when you don't want to look at them. (I thought the latest version of Konfab had this but I can't find the pref). [alert admin]

Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Every once in a while, a program comes out that should have it's own category on VersionTracker. This is one of those - it crashes on launch 100% of the time. The update solves nothing. I wish I had taken the money I spent on this and lit it with a match - at least I would have been warmer for a few minutes. [alert admin]

EarthBrowser 2.0 (Mac OS X)
This was a great product but is being made worse with time. There is still no openGL support, despite that being promised by the developer. As a result, the rendering is very slow. Interestingly enough, the manual claims that it uses an "advanced raytracing algorithm." Those of you with computer graphics experience know that raytracing is excellent for reflections and transparencies (which EarthBrowser does NOT have) but at the expense of being slow (which it DOES have). The only new feature I have found is the addition of political maps and tectonic plate lines - very minimal. And last, for all this you get to pay again. I can't find the upgrade price on their website so it looks like you have to pay full price again, even the registered users of a previous version. All in all, I wouldn't pay for this. And I'd recommend that anyone looking at it also look at Celestia. [alert admin]

As a paid customer, I certainly hope version 2 has opengl support. Although it serves a different purpose than earthbrowser, CELESTIA's performance runs circles around earthbrowser. [alert admin]

Cinema 4D is the easiest, best 3-D app for the mac right now. Maya is better if you're working in a high-end vfx facility doing VERY specific things, but C4D is much more approachable. I find it to be very easy to learn and use, fast, and it renders beautiful images with very little work. IMHO, it has taken the top spot on the mac away from ElectricImage. [alert admin]

Fly! II OS X update (Mac OS X)
slow that it is totally unusable. What a shame that the Apple store still stocks it and some unsuspecting customer thinks that they (or their mac) is the problem. Instead try X-PLANE. Light years better. [alert admin]

Wastebasket 1.1 (Mac OS X)
done. I'm throwing my G85 in the trash and never buying HP again. Anyone have any recommendations about what I should now buy to replace it? [alert admin]
