VueScan 8.5.28 (Mac OS X)

Love VueScan BUT 8.5.28 Crashes my MacBook Pro

I love VueScan BUT this last version, 8.5.28 Crashes my 13" MacBook Pro (June 09) using Snow Leopard. I was excited about it as it claimed to fix some problems with Canon scanners and I have the MP970 which is an all-in-one printer/scanner. Had to re-install the previous version which is working fine. Hope what ever is wrong can be fixed soon. [alert admin]

3D Euchre Deluxe 2.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Don't buy this game!

No updates in 5 years and poor programming of the "bots"!! Just played a hand where my "bot" partner and I were down 9 to 5. My "bot" partner had 5 spades and did not bid "alone" for 4 points. My "bot" partner easily took all 5 tricks for only 2 points, not the 4 we needed. This sort of thing happens all the time as well as things like not taking a trick the "bots" could have taken and as a result getting set. [alert admin]

Wx 5.3.5 (Mac OS X)

Can't keep it working on my new 13" MacBook Pro

The author responded quickly to my inquiry and I found out that I can't include Wx in my "Login" items as it won't run well. Now when I start it up manually some of the time it won't provide a forecast. Tonight for example I'm getting "Wx Error: the NDFD server did not return valid point forecast data: Requested 7 days but received 0 days". Wx is very pretty but I want something that just works all the time. I've used WeatherDock for about a year and while it's not quite as pretty as Wx, it is very reliable. [alert admin]

David's Backgammon 5.7.6 (Mac OS X)

Finally tossed this game in the trash!

I finally tossed this game in the trash. It's just too frustrating to play and see the computer get the dice it needs over and over again when I can't seem to buy a good throw of the dice! I don't care what the author "says" about his programming skills, I've never seen anything like the luck the computer has in this game. I've played it for well over a year and have played at the toughest level for a long time and the computer makes unreal throws over and over and over again. I'd rather not play than to be "beat" by so many lucky throws. I like a challenge but this game is ridiculous!!! [alert admin]

Dominoes 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Programmed for the computer to win most of the time

I bought this game and have been playing it for well over a year now. It is a nice looking game BUT, time in and time out the computer gets whatever it needs to win and I can't seem to BUY the right domino. I play "Muggins" and have the computer play set at "Tough". I occasionally miss a better play than what I just made but usually I evaluate each domino for the best play and often the plays I need just are not there. I very often get doubles during play and, of course those numbers are not often on the board to play on. In addition to doubles, I often have 4, 5, or even 6 of the same number showing on my dominoes and often I'll have that occur with more than one number. E.g. 5 ones and 3 or 4 sevens in my hand. That makes it very difficult to win! If I play a double 9 the computer pretty often will come up with a 9/2 or a 9/7 giving it either 20 or 25 points. Often I'll have to pick dominoes from the "bone pile" and will pick up quite a few and then the computer goes out giving it a much higher score. Occasionally that happens in reverse but not very often. Oh, and if I choose the option of highest double starting the game, the computer gets to start far more often than I do. I enjoy playing this game but get VERY FRUSTRATED with the unfairness of it. I win maybe one game out of 3 to 5 games played. IN CONCLUSION, I WOULD ONLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME IF YOU ARE PREPARED FOR LOTS OF FRUSTRATION!!! I would love to see the author fix the game so the computer really does play smarter at the more difficult levels and not just with better dominoes programmed for it so it LOOKS like it's playing smarter! SMARTReporter 2.3.9 (Mac OS X)

Installing Smart Reporter and had to use start button to shut computer down

I was installing Smart Reporter while playing David's Backgammon and I got a message in 4 languages telling me I had to restart my computer and I could do so by either pressing the start button or the usual method. I could not move my cursor. The computer was completely frozen so I had to use the start button to shut it down. I'm not happy about that! Apps usually give you a warning that you'll have to restart your computer and then give you the option to restart now or later. My MacBook Pro with OS 10.5.6 and 2 MB RAM just froze. There was no indication as to why I had to restart. Any ideas as to why this happened? [alert admin]

Needs Update for OS-X 10.5.7

If you go to the Developers Website you'll find a beta of Version 3 that does work with Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro (July '09).

Best of its kind, but . . .

I'm not as experienced as you are but I've noticed the same thing. The computer at the Club Champ level is just way too "lucky"! I've wanted to throw the thing in the trash many times but I still come back and play it only to be frustrated again and again and again!
