Adobe Reader 8.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Crashes on quit. Why?

I am still trying to find out why Adobe Reader 8.xx crashes every single time on quitting the app when more than one document is open. All other functions work fine. I am only using Adobe Reader because I need to do regular searches in a group of pdf's. Haven't found a way to do that in Preview. [alert admin]

The Boom Box 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Update 1.1 available

There is an update to version 1.1 here: http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/boombox/software_updates.html VersionTracker seems to have missed it. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.1 (Mac OS X)

Unannounced (imperfect) interaction with JewelCase

If you have JewelCase (2.0) installed, try this: choose the CoverFlow display mode, click on the full screen icon, then quit with Escape: lo and behold! That launches JewelCase in Full Screen mode (if that's the mode you have selected in the JewelCase menu) !! Problem: if you quit JewelCase using Escape, you are returned to a blank (black) CoverFlow display in iTunes. Using Control-F returns you to JewelCase, not to the CoverFlow full screen mode. You'll have to switch to another mode, then revert to CoverFlow. I think the interaction with JewelCase is great, pity it seems unfinished. [alert admin]

maintain1 8.4 (Mac OS X)

snappier

Version 8.4 definitely is snappier than the previous ones. Permission repair is even faster than with Disk Utility. And the possibility to activate a group of actions a la carte is great. I would rate this utility very high, if it were not that I am only using a couple of functions, of which I understand what they do. It would need more documentatiion for me to be brave enough to venture into the other fields. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Permissions needed repairing after install

Ran DU after installing. It repaired permissions on ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Frameworks/InternetUtilities.bundle/Contents/MacOS/InternetUtilities. Should have been -rw-rw-r-- instead of -rwxrwxr-x Otherwise no problems here so far. Been using the List view with artwork all the time. Great! [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X PPC 10.4.7 (Mac OS X)

OK but something funny with iCal or Mail

Smooth install. However, immediately after installing and accepting authorizations in Mail, I got three iCal alerts in Mail relating to past events. Checked my Date and Time prefs, which are OK. [alert admin]

EasyWMA 2.4.3 (Mac OS X)

Web links to WMP files now default to EasyWMA

The title says it all. All links to Windows Media Player files in Safari now open Easy WMA, needing to force-quit Safari and download the WMP file manually. Anyone else has this problem? [alert admin]

Widget Manager 1.2.0 (Mac OS X)

Installation tricky

Do NOT use VersionTracker Pro to install this version. It links to an unusable text file. Use the Download button up here and read the ReadMe file. Upgrading requires that you remove the old pref pane first (right-click on it). [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.3 (Mac OS X)

be patient ...

If you are like me, disappointed first at some slowness while and after upgrading, be patient: after a couple of hours of use, some reboots and repairing permissions, you will notice that your system has regained its original speed (or better): no more lengthy startups, no more global sluggishness, no long time to repair permissions, even with the numerous "special permissions" now used. True, Onyx is now broken -- Applescript error -1762 --, but I guess an update of this utility will mend it soon. iMac G4 20" flat panel 1.25 GHz -- updated from 10.4.2 with Sofware Update, DiskWarrior applied before, permissions repaired before and after [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.2 (Mac OS X)

smooth update except ...

I got the spinning beachball while attempting to change the boot disk in the pref panel, while Spotlight was reindexing my main drive after the update. Had to force-quit system prefs and reboot. Anyone else? And yes, I had also lost all my system icons in the Menu bar after the update. Had to redefine them one by one. Don't ask if I took the usual precautions. I did. [alert admin]

Finder stays 10.4.7 generally

VT Pro has now apparently modified its identification criteria. We no longer are informed that our 10.4.10 system is outdated ! What a relief ;-)

Guess what? Versiontracker Pro too!

Same thing here. Actually, VersionTracker Pro bases this assumption on the version of Finder.app (Sytem-> Library -> CoreServices -> Finder.app). If I go to the Finder and select "About the Finder", the version number I get is 10.4.7, whereas my system is upgraded to 10.4.10. Anybody else notice this?

Unannounced (imperfect) interaction with JewelCase

I am afraid I must concur with skyo63: now, when I try to reproduce what I describe above, iTunes 7.1 simply crashes on me. The only thing I did in between was repair permissions. Guess I'll have un uninstall JewelCase. Damn.

cannot unstuffit

Just drop the file onto Stuffit Expander. Before installing, move your BiaB folder to the root of your hard disk (see below messages about BiaB 's 'stupid' installer). After installing, you can safely move it back to your Applications folder.

Tiger

You have probably changed some other Mouseexposé prefs that require you to quit and relaunch the app. Until you do, no other changes can be made. At least, that is what I experienced under Tiger 10.4.3. Good luck.

1.22 not 1.3

I'd like to confirm that this version shows up a 1.22, but has the new features as advertised (notably the checkbox to show or hide the clock). Cosmetic error, which does not make it more excusable.

How is this free?

They'll attempt to get you to buy the rest of their package. Just read the other comments -- your intuiiton will tell you at once where the positive comments come from -- and you'll never touch this thing. "Phone home" ... only ET could make that sound moving.

Play multi-songs from within PodWorks

But PodWorks 2.8.2 DOES that as well. It will play back all songs from a playlist on the iPod or from the entire library (select that in the Playlist drawer). Do not foget to activate Preferences ->Playback -> "Continue to next song after current song finishes". Playback commands are limited to Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute, though. No pause. No equalizer. No randomizing. I hope the playback options will…
