OpenOffice.org 3.0 (Mac OS X)

They won't get a single nickel from me!

Still waiting for my "if not 100% satisfied, double your money back!" check from last time. [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Caught in a "user experience" loop after 12.1.0? Solution here

delete ˜/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist delete /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist then start an app - put in serial number. after that it starts the MS update again and then it should work [alert admin]

TomTom HOME 2.3.0.32 (Mac OS X)

False description

# Easily make and restore backups of your TomTom # Receive free Traffic Alerts on your computer You can make _one_ backup. And there are no free traffic alerts. Beyond that, well, it's a TomTom application. Pretty much as buggy as ever. [alert admin]

USGerman Keyboard Layout 0.9.8 (Mac OS X)

Silly

I can already do all of that with my regular US-English keyboard layout. ü, ä, ö, ß. See? So this seems kinda pointless. Or is this some survey project by the U of AA to see how stupid people are? [alert admin]

What's the point? What's wrong with Spotlight? [alert admin]

Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Finally, it delivers most of what's promised

Finally, syncing notes between Entourage and the PocketPC. Syncing much faster than previous versions. Now if the cheesy shop would just go away again, and the screen needs less clutter, too. Other than that, almost as good as the free ActiveSync ;) [alert admin]

EyeTV 2.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Garbage

Seriously, EyeTV is one of the crappiest pieces of software currently available for Macs. Locks up, dies, or becomes unresponsive all the time, keeps recording 0kB schedules, sucks up huge amounts of memory and no stay-on-top-of-other-windows option either. The hardware is nothing to write home about either. The remote for instance has a max. range of 3 feet, the bright blue LED illuminates the entire room at night. Also, the software is hideously overpriced. In comparison, WinTV has always been a free download, for instance. [alert admin]

EyeTV does have Saved Searches for the Program Guide

> [recent searches] OK, nice. But that needs to be made much more obvious, please. Also, the relationship between the always-on-top mode, and the grayed out Edit button eludes me. Overall, great product though. And support is outstanding!

Keep Player Windows On Top vs. editing

> program editing is disabled when v2.5's new "Keep Player Windows > On Top" option in the View menu is enabled. Hey, at least you figured that relationship out :) I was like, dude, WTF? Thanks.

Wow...

Well? Wouldn't you think somebody who's "developing" a graphical front end for OS maintenance has developer access?

It also breaks UNO. Great. Now I've got _three_ different GUIs on this Mac. All from Apple.

Customer Support Lacking

> Emails to the developer go unanswered Totally not true. The three times (since March 2006) that I had a question about Unison, they answered promptly and specific (i.e. not a mail bot picking out keywords and sending a canned reply).

5 Star App ! Fantastic

> seriously how could you give this a one star rating? Because "4 steaming piles" wasn't an available option. > Maybe you're trying to run this software on a PC Only if you want to describe a 1.42 G4 PPC as "PC". > or maybe you're a disgruntled ex-employee of Elgato fired for stealing coffee mugs from the staff cafe Funny. Nah, not really.
