ControllerMate 4.3.9 (Mac OS X)
Excellent! Allowed me to set up F-key volume controls on my Macally full-size keyboard. ![]()

I have been using a full-size Mac-compatible keyboard instead of the smaller Apple keyboard which came with my iMac. This full size keyboard (brand name Macally) does not have VOLUME keys, which is a problem when I need to mute the sound level quickly to take a phone call or to talk to someone at my desk. ControllerMate allowed me to assign "F" keys to the functions of VOLUME DOWN, VOLUME UP and MUTE. I chose to configure F1=VOLUME DOWN, F2=VOLUME UP and F4=MUTE. (F3=FIND AGAIN in Firefox, so I did not use that key.) After just a few minutes of head-scratching and fiddling around with ControllerMate, I was able to set up this configuration. The graphic format of ControllerMate is very simple and fun, once you get the hang of it. I am looking forward to using this program to configure other functions, if the need arises. So far, these new volume keys are working for me. If I have any problems, I will leave another review here. There is a tutorial and a users' forum on the developer's website at http://www.orderedbytes.com/ [alert admin]

Print Window 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Works fine for me. (OSX 10.4.11). Simple and fast. Save to txt file is helpful. Wish there were more save-able file formats, though. This will provide a huge improvement when I am archiving folders! Many thanks to SearchwareSolutions. [alert admin]

How to remove volume-keys alert sound... (OS X 10.3.9)
Just to be helpful, here's how to remove the alert sounds from your keyboard sound-volume keys. If you use WireTap to record audio, those volume alert-sounds will be recorded every time you adjust the volume using your keyboard, so this will help. (This won't remove the alert sounds when adjusting the volume with the menubar volume control, as far as I can tell.) System Preferences > Sound > Uncheck: "Play feedback when volume keys are pressed" Works for me! Hope that helps somebody out there. --- wildtrack [alert admin]
