launch2net 1.4.18 (Mac OS X)

call me old fashioned but...

I use this software intensively, and I have to say I preferred it when it was still 'Mobile High Speed'; this older version would simply create a new location in your Network preferences, and to connect, you could use the drop down menu from the modem icon in the menubar. The result was a cleaner, more integrated feel within OS X, and the result seemed to take less time in establishing a connection. Launch2net takes up space in the dock and on the desktop when it is open, and I don't feel that the new GUI justifies this. [alert admin]

jBidWatcher 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Congrats

to the developer for releasing version 1.0. Over the years this has become a great program. Perhaps the GUI could be made to look a little more polished, but most importantly, the sniping works a treat. [alert admin]

Synergy 2.9 (Mac OS X)

can it add the artwork automatically

...when there is no existing artwork in iTunes? Right now I can only see the 'transfer cover to iTunes' option in the menubar, and it would seem tedious to have to do this each time... [alert admin]

TamTam 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

TomTom's own Mac software

...can be downloaded from http://www.tomtom.com/support/rightnow.php?Page=http%3A//support-uk.tomtom.com/cgi-bin/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php%3Fp_faqid%3D1750 It appears to do everything TamTam does, except for the 'install/remove maps' feature. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)

I regret buying this because

...it works, but only some of the time. Encouraged by one successful copy I made with the demo, I foolishly thought perhaps all the negative reviews are a little over the top. I decided to pay the high price for this product and only then found that, after the long time takes to complete a copy, I often had a coaster, and not a copy. The program looks so nice, and it seems so easy; just to press one button for a copy. You really want it to work; after all, we love our Macs because everything, including the software, tends to work really, really well. But, this program is different. Please, do yourself a big favour and do NOT part with your cash. A few weeks ago, after more than a year of disappointing results with this program, I finally saw the light and began to use MacTheRipper and Popcorn. It seemed frustrating at first, to have to use two apps to do what Fast DVD Copy claims to in one, but after copying about fifteen different DVD's, I still have a 100% successful copy ratio. Given that these two programs work so flawlessly, it is obviously possible, in theory, to write a program that does what Fast DVD Copy claims to be able to do. But this is not it. [alert admin]

JewelCase 1.8 (Mac OS X)

anyone else having this problem?

With both version 1.7 and 1.8 I have found the fullscreen display to be erratic. It's available no problem after a fresh restart of iTunes, but after a while no longer works consistently. The in-window display works without fail, but when I then request a fullscreen display (from the jewelcase menubar or by pressing ctrl-f) jewelcase switches off altogether. No such problems with iTunes' own visualizer, for example. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 4.0 (Mac OS X)

3.X serial works fine for 4.0

..though just as a precaution I did rename the old version of the program, before installing this new one, in case it didn't. [alert admin]

Firefox 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

bug...

I believe someone else posted this here some time ago for a previous version, but I was disappointed to find that this version, too, doesn't let me open a new window when only the download window is open -so annoying! [alert admin]

DVD Player Patch 1.8 (Mac OS X)

Not for me

I have no doubt this patch will suit some, but personally I prefer the "Not permitted" messages to the Error messages you mostly get instead after applying this patch. These error messages require an "Okay" click to go away, the "not permitted" ones go away by themselves. [alert admin]
