Do Something When 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
1) the installer doesn't do its job as it should: it won't install in my home/library, only in the main Library folder BUT it won't work from that installed location (at least not when your home folder is on a different volume) so you have to manually move it to ~/Library. 2) there is no uninstall, which is very much needed: see (3) 3) the upgrade doesn't work - you have to manually first remove the prefPane AND the prefs (com.azarhi.DoSomethingWhen.plist) to make it work. This means you have to start from scratch with your rules. 4) you can't change the delay of a rule, unless you also change something else (like the name) otherwise the SAVE button will remain greyed-out. Data Backup 2.0.6 (Mac OS X)
unpractical backup to CD in Tiger
from the Data Backup User Manual page 32 : You may backup to CDs and DVDs by utilizing Apple’s DiskBurn technology. Simply insert a blank CD or DVD while at the Finder, then you will be asked to provide a name for the disk. After providing a name and clicking OK, a representation of the disk will appear on your desktop. This representation will be a valid Backup destination for Data Backup. Simply select this disk representation from the destination well and perform your backup as if the disk were removable medium as described above. After the backup operation is complete, you are free to eject the CD/DVD icon from the desktop, at which time you will be given an opportunity to commit the data to the actual disk. This method no longer works on OS X 10.4 (“Tiger”). Instead, make and mount a Disk Image (.dmg file) using Disk Utility, backup to that and then burn the disk image file to the CD/DVD. [alert admin]

Firefox 1.5rc2 (Mac OS X)
My main reason for using Firefox is the "FlashGot" extension which downloads all (or some) of the files on a page with just one keystroke - it even starts downloading in the background as soon as a page opens (it uses the free included UNIX downloader cURL) It's an ideal download compagnon for AllOfMP3.com Safari still remains my default browser, because: 1) Firefox is incompatile with the keychain 2) it also doesn't support Apple's API for contextual menu plug-ins, meaning that for exemple URLManagerPro's "add bookmark" plugin doesn't show up. 3) it takes too long to launch. A good thing though that you can change the ugly PC-style interface with a nice theme, like GrApple, and you can also change the PC-style buttons with mac-style widgets using Firefoxy. [alert admin]

Snail Mail 0.6.3 (Mac OS X)
ruler will print on your envelope!
bugs! 1) won't print reliably in draft mode 2) custom envelope size was greyed-out and thus not available for printing 3) worst of all: when "show ruler" is active, that ruler will be printed on your envelope! [alert admin]
