MySQL BackUp 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Note that if mysqld (the server) is running it isn't a good idea to back up the data set with Retrospect. Retrospect will not handle locking the files and preventing changes while the backup operation is running. You need to either use mysqldump as this program does which works on all table types but is slow, or use mysqlhotcopy (MyISAM tables) or InnoDB Hot Backup (InnoDB tables). I haven't used it, but it looks to be a good wrapper around mysqldump/tar/gzip which is what our backup routine is. [alert admin]

like the the error you get when running fsck on a non-boot volume, you need fsck_hfs. see http://www.osxfaq.com/Tutorials/fsck/index.ws [alert admin]

URL Manager Pro shared menus. Use Moz 1.2b and URLMP 3.0.1b2, make sure you throw away old SharedMenus.component (empty trash) and install version 1.2.0. Conflicts somewhat with type ahead links, but works. [alert admin]

America Online (AOL) 5.0 (Mac OS X)
the message "America Online cannot start" followed by the application quitting, I solved this by making sure I had a folder called "Shared" in my /Users directory. I had moved my home folder (and shared folder) to another drive, and AOL puts files in /Users/Shared. I created a folder in /Users owned by root with read and write permission for everyone (chmod 777 shared when in the users directory) and it worked fine. [alert admin]
