Klondike Forever 1.3.5 (Mac OS X)

Best Klondike I've ever seen

This is Klondike the way I've always wanted it to be: very clear and easy on the eyes, fast, with cards that respond right (as when you move a card, or when the game is finished: all the cards stack up by themselves quite quickly saving valuable time). Visually it is not only clear but dynamic: the cards flip and move in a nice, lively manner. About as close to perfection as I can imagine. [alert admin]

KavaServices 3.2.1 (Mac OS X)

download is not 3.2.1 but the old 3.2 !

The downloaded version is NOT the new version 3.2.1 but the old one from April 16th. Very annoying to go through the process only to find the same old version. This said, I like the product. [alert admin]

CleanMyMac 1.4 (Mac OS X)

Suspicious

I see a lot of enthusiastic reviews from people saying they got 3 or 4 Gs more. But ultimately, would I want to pay $50 for 3 or 4 Gs more on my hard disc? These days hard discs come with a lot of Gigas. For a bit more, I could get myself a 500 G hard disc even for my MacBook.... $19 for a six month license seems expensive to me. Are there any significant benefits besides getting a little more disc space that other programs I have do no already provide? That is what I would like to know from reviewers. [alert admin]

Changes I Ching Software 1.0 (Mac OS X)

good application

The application is well designed and easy to use. Yes, it is expensive and I too wish it were less, but considering what other applications and just things in general cost these days, I would say it is still worth the money if you use the I Ching. And you have two weeks to try it for free. For Chinese users and people who are learning Chinese, I would recommend for a future update to include transcriptions for the Chinese characters corresponding to the hexagrams as well as to the trigrams (for which transcriptions are already given). Also, it would be helpful to have two transcriptions, one in the older Wade-Giles system which was used in most published translations of the I Ching, one in the Pinyin system which is the one most people are learning these days). iDmg 2.20 (Mac OS X)

what a great application!

This is a great application. Absolutely great. I can't think of anything more convenient for sending things securely over the Internet or just keeping files secured. Until now I have been using TrueCrypt which is also a great application, but TrueCrypt is quite a bit more complicated to use, though it offers a higher level of security (but I don't really need that much security most of the time, just don't want snoopers peeking). The instructions are clear (the application is very easy to use and almost self-explanatory anyway) but they could be a bit more complete (for instance, I don't know how to make a new dmg without closing the window and opening iDmg all over again; it isn't a big deal to do that, but I wish I could just clear the window. I am also not sure what to do after I click on + ). But I am so grateful for the application that I don't want to gripe! [alert admin]

Denoise 1.0 (Mac OS X)

What I had been waiting for

Since digital cameras started fulling their potential, I have developed a real interest in taking photos, although I do not have all that much time to devote to it. Noise has always been a particular problem, and though I cannot say I have gone to great lengths to deal with it, I did buy the well-reputed Noise Ninja. Unfortunately, I never got the results I wanted. Either the noise/grain remained, or there was so much softening that the people started looking like clay dolls. After just a few minutes of trying Denoise, I decided to buy it, even though I had already spent $35 on Noise Ninja and hesitated to spend another $31 since noise-removing is not something I do every day. But in the end I went through with the purchase, and do not regret it. Denoise does not have nearly as many features as Noise Ninja, but it is much simpler to use, and the results — at least for an amateur like me who perhaps never really learned to use Noise Ninja properly — are signifcicantly better. In my present view, Denoise is the noise-removing program that I had been waiting for. The results are great, and it is very easy to get them. What more can I ask? (Well, yes, a manual would be nice....) [alert admin]

Spaces does NOT do the same thing

Spaces is NOT useful to be because I cannot control what is in each space. For instance, I want to have MAIL together with several applications, but I can only get it in ONE of the spaces. The point for me is to have specific combinations that I use for different purposes.

Hmmm 19 bucks !!!

You seem to mean "Reading this will SAVE you $19.95" not COST you $19.95. Others have already pointed out your lack of refection, and all I can add is that illiteracy does not help your cause.

Continues to suck...

I can certainly sympathize with what you feel when confronted with such un-Mac-like stuff. BUT 1. you might have explained it (as you ended up doing and those comments WERE helpful) 2. the repulsive stuff you had to confront may simply come from the fact that you are dealing with PC software, and that the problem comes from PC. I personally have the feeling of confusion and ill-being each time I am…

Suspicious

OK, I've downloaded it and taken a look at the developer's site, and have a better idea. What I am really interested in knowing from reviews is not how much free space they got but whether they noticed their computer working significantly better/faster. THAT is what I WOULD pay for, not for a few measly gigas! Unfortunately, I cannot test that out with the 200 Mo that the trial version removes.

Bah, what a waste

Little Snitch is one of the biggest pains in the ass I have ever encountered. Perhaps I am not aware of all the potential problems it keeps at bay, but it drove me crazy. I was very relieved when I finally got rid of it. If someone can tell me the benefits he or she personally has gotten from using it, I'd be interested and grateful.

Useless

techprodave said what I would have said. I don't know whether it was ignorance or obstinacy, but to say a program is rendered useless because it asks for an administrator password is absurd.

Better than the rest

Your recommendations are very valuable to me, but I wonder if you have an idea as to why someone else here used the application and had everything so messed up that he is having to reinstall the entire OS apparently. A case like that makes me leery of using the application. I'm only asking since you seem to an expert....

Alternative perfect freeware application ...

Do what? No point in posting a review if you can't even spare the time to give it a rating or write something comprehensible.

Graphic Converter integration

Your comment about being able to have Graphic Converter use the program is the most interesting thing I've seen on this entire page; but I am not sure i'll know how to do that. I hope there are instructions that comes with the program.
