Apple Safari 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Safari 4.0.2 seems to be working fine...

No problems here. I miss the top tabs of the beta, though. Top tabs give us more screen real estate. Apple should bring top tabs back as an option for those of us who appreciate the benefit. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0b (Mac OS X)

Wow this browser is fast!

I love it. And I really like the screen real estate optimizing touches, like the tabs on top... unlike some others, I think this is a much better arrangement than tabs that protrude down into the webpage area. This browser is fast and maximizes the area for viewing web content. The only thing missing is that transparent blue progress/loading bar which gives the user a better idea if the page is done loading (and how much has loaded) compared to the current pinwheel... but honestly, this browser loads sites so fast on a fast connection, there is less need for such indicators than in the past. Oh, one other thing that might be nice is plug-in support, like Firefox. That's the one area where Firefox has an advantage... but I can see where this might be problematic as such things might drastically change the security, stability or function of a browser. I've not run into any problems with Flash sites... all good here. [alert admin]

Intuit Quicken 2006 R6 (Mac OS X)

Kick Intuit's Bill Cambell off of Apple's Board!

If you own Apple stock, vote to kick Intuit's Bill Cambell off of Apple's board. He and Intuit have done nothing to address the lousy state of Quicken for Mac which continues to severely lack behind the Windows version. Quicken for Mac isn't even Universal Binary or Intel Native and constantly crashes... even more so on new Mac Pros. How many years has it already been since Apple announced the move to Intel processors? I could forgive not having an Intel version if Quicken 2007 was at least stable on new Intel machines, but it is not. Intuit is unresponsive to Mac-based Quicken users and continues to peddle lousy software. [alert admin]

VPN Tracker 5.2.2 (Mac OS X)

WAY over-priced.

The pricing policy for this software is ridiculous. It's horrible that so many VPN hardware makers rely on cheap, Windows-only methodologies to establish services like VPNs. There are established standards that can be followed to create VPN hardware that is compatible with all platforms without having to buy costly add on software like this. (Another Windows-only technology I despise is ActiveX... but that's for another time.) VPN Tracker does appear to be very slick, but that still doesn't justify the high cost with free/low-cost alternatives available like the built-in VPN software in OS X, IPsecuritas, Tunnelblick, and Shimo. Thank goodness IPsecuritas is available. It works great with a SonicWALL TZ-170 that I need to connect to... and it's free. Strange that IPsecuritas does not show up when searching for "VPN" here at VersionTracker. However, it does show up if you search for its name. [alert admin]

IPSecuritas 3.1 (Mac OS X)

Works with SonicWALL TZ-170 !!!

Whoo-Hoo!! I'm finally able to connect to the SonicWALL TZ-170 at my client's location. This is a huge deal as the only other alternative was the WAY over-priced "VPN Tracker" software. A big THANK YOU to the developer of IPSecuritas. [alert admin]

STILL not 64-bit, Deleted all previous iPhone OS versions

iPhone can't sync wirelessly? That is not correct. Wireless data syncing (Calendars, Address Book, Bookmarks, etc.) has been around for some time on the iPhone for all users with a MobileMe account, which also syncs data to all your computers., It also syncs both ways, so both iPhone and computer data are always up-to-date... no typing new contact information in twice.

re: no thanks

It's working fine for me. Try moving your Safari prefs out of your library and then relaunching. If that doesn't work, try repairing permissions.

Combo update is 669 MB in size

Your claim that Windows is any better in regard to the size of updates is dead wrong. As an IT admin running Windows XP Pro, Vista and OS X, all operating systems require hefty downloads to bring them up to current patch levels. OS X actually requires the least updates in size while XP Pro revision "C" requires almost 5 GB! It's just the consequence of advancement in tech and the complexities of a modern…

Doesn't work on Intel MPB running 10.5.2

Don't be a goof. I have a new N-Base Station for myself, but several of my clients still use the old base stations and I need to administer them, so I still need a utility to use on my new system for those old base stations... I can't ask to borrow one of their old machines every time I need to reconfigure one of their base stations.

Still the same problems with Adobe CS3 files

If you are experienced at using design apps, you should realize that it is always better to save your files locally (to your computer's hard drive) and then transfer the files to the server later via the Finder. Many design apps create a temp file on the drive where you last saved your current file resulting in a lot of excess data traffic to and from the server. Furthermore, saving directly from an application to…
