Camino 1.5.5 (Mac OS X)
Camino doesn't play well with others... ![]()

I love Camino for it's ad blocking, for sure, and it's proper use of Keychain. But this thing is so buggy, it's ridiculous. I had to go back to 1.5.3, which freezes all the time, just to have something usable. The current version, however, as well as the beta, have actually effectively disabled OS X at times. 1.5.5 completely shut out all other programs from opening. And has more than once locked out the menu bar when switching to another already open program. Sadly, Camino and Mozilla products in general, have become quite a joke, which each update being more problem than solution. [alert admin]

To be honest, I don't use Create like I thought I would. I had planned on it being my layout and design program, but it's really only suited to quick and simple things in that area. But, nonetheless, I use it a quite a bit. Mostly for quickly modifying PDFs and printing them (like google maps), and vector drawing. It's a great program though, with awesome support. And it would be perfect for beginners, as it is super easy to use, though some things take some time to figure out. It is a little expensive for what I get out of it, but with free updates for life, I can't complain. It's something I would probably miss if it were gone. I still think it has a place in my creative tools, perhaps one I haven't discovered yet. [alert admin]

Mellel 2.2.7.1 (Mac OS X)
Best real word processor you could want. ![]()

If you actually write, like say with words, then this is what you want. There seems to have been a mass confusion over the last decade or so as to what a tool designed for that purpose should include and what should be left out. Well, let's ponder the subject for a moment. Do I use a paint brush to write a novel? I suppose I could, if I were crazy like Picasso and wanted to write in really square letters. Do I want to publish a newspaper? Only in my spare time, after all, I do have square letters to paint. Do I want to produce content of the literary sort for publication or display in the Smithsonian in 150 years because I became president and my letters are worth a small fortune even though I mostly wrote about my mistress's annoying cats? Yep, that's how I roll. Writing is about words. Printing out those words in a properly formatted for publication, or otherwise useful, format is what word processors of old were designed to do. And it just so happens to be what Mellel is designed to do. I use it for everything that involves words. From letters and notes, to fiction and lyric writing. Mellel is fast, and spurs productivity. And it is precisely what it claims to be. [alert admin]

PhotoLine 32 13.52 (Mac OS X)
Great price. Great support. Try it out. It's become my photo/image editor, my layout and design program, and my "gotta rip this PDF apart" tool. [alert admin]

PhotoLine 32 13.52 (Mac OS X)
Great price. Great support. I use it for serious photo and image editing, as well as layout and design. Working with PDF's is still slow, but at least you can tear them apart to your hearts content, and I'm sure Mr. Huber will get it working even better in future releases. There's very little you can't do with PhotoLine 32. Try it out. [alert admin]
