Emailchemy 1.9.3 (Mac OS X)
I purchased emailchemy in 2007 knowing I would someday have to convert my QuickMail Pro e-mails to something else. Well, now came the time and even though my version is over a year old, emailchemy did an excellent job converting hundreds of QMP e-mails to Apple Mail. All my personal subfolders were preserved and all e-mail attachments open flawlessly. I did get a warning from the app that the contents of the folder I selected were not what emailchemy expects, but I ignored this warning and got perfect results. A small bug occurred when I tried to convert just a single subfolder; emailchemy created two separate folders, one empty and one with the converted e-mails. Mail would not accept the latter, but when I placed this folder into the empty one Mail was happy to import it. This problem may have been solved in newer versions or maybe I did something wrong. My QMP version is 3.5.3 , my OS is 10.4.11 with Mail 2.1.3. Thanks Weird Kid for this excellent software. [alert admin]

Apple iLife '06 (Mac OS X)
I edited a film with iMovie 06 and found a nasty bug. If I erase a section in the middle of a clip it deletes the entire rest of the clip. So now I first split the clip and then trim away the end. Then I transferred my movie to iDVD with three chapters, nothing complicated. I burned my DVD and found it had no sound and the last chapter was missing. All work done on latest G5 iMac with latest iLife and OS updates. iDVD took over an hour to render my 10 minute video. I then redid the DVD job on my G5 DP1,8 with iDVD 05. Rendering took 15 minutes and everything worked flawless. [alert admin]

A Better Finder Attributes 3.9 (Mac OS X)
I was very happy with ABFA on OS9, now I changed to OSX10.4 and bought a new licence. I'm not happy with the new interface, have to type date in text form. If I use German typing for the month it doesn't work but doesn't tell me why. The app and interface have bugs, it's not the simple straightforward tool it used to be. Now I discovered Miana, it's made me completely happy. It's even free though I'd be glad to pay for a good tool. [alert admin]

Miana 1.1.3 (Mac OS X)
Miana does a great job for changing file dates. Simple to use, reliable and fast. I used to use A Better Finder Attributes but was frustrated by the bad interface and bugs. Miana makes me happy. I will make a donation because the author deserves it. [alert admin]
