Yummy FTP 1.8 (Mac OS X)
I simply can NOT believe it, this software just got far yummier! Seriously though, how many software programs do you have where 40% of what it does is in direct response to what you may NEED?? And exactly how many original software authors will get back to you in 2 days like the head Yummy? [alert admin]

VideoSpec 0.7.1 (Mac OS X)
The notes should be in a plain text document, not wrapped in an application. As an application, it has a modified date of 2006. If you keep a copy of it, the next time you MAY get new info, but the OS will act like it's the exact same file. [alert admin]

AOL Radio 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
With the new 2.0 version, all users of any OS prior to 10.5/Leopard are marginalized. Not only will you no longer have access to the latest version of the app, BUT AOL has plainly stated they will shut down all streaming broadcasts for any version of the player running in anything OTHER than 10.5. Their answer is to go use the web interface... but that is no answer, the stand alone app is really the only way to do it. They also claim it isn't good for them to keep 2 code bases... guess they have no clue how to write a simple app like this that runs in more than the latest OS. There is absolutely nothing that I can see that makes 10.5 a MUST OS to run under. The ONLY plausible reason is they needed help from Cupertino, again because they have no clue how to write Mac software. And Cupertino said they'd ONLY help if it was 10.5 only. Not saying this is true, but it sure seems the only actual reason... So for us it isn't "free." It costs 130 bucks to go buy the OS that it ONLY will work with. [alert admin]

Renamer4Mac 3.4 (Mac OS X)
Looks like being able to save presets is the only thing really different, except, that "feature" doesn't work. It doesn't save the specification as to a "name" or an "extension" change. Highly recommend the free version, don't bother paying until those presets work AND are able to be saved as some form of droplet. [alert admin]

OnyX 1.9.6 (Mac OS X)
By being only useable in the latest OS release, this version marginalizes well over one half the Mac population. Yes, the old version (which easily rates a 4-5) is able to be used on both the oldest and newest OSes, but I don't get gushing praise for developers who in one stroke make more than half the population feel like they simply don't count any more. 2 stars is generous for making most Mac users feel like they don't count. Adobe Flash Player 10.0.0.525 (Mac OS X)
cnn.com videos are still broken. Should be MAJOR embarrassment for a company like Adobe, John Warnock would never allow this kind of crap to go on. Then again, they are today's micro$loth, they control the market and can do whatever the hell they want. Real software developers would have canned executives that have allowed to successive versions out in the filed that don't work with major sites, like CNN. [alert admin]

Tried it, looked like nothing going on (i.e. no download). Tried it again 10 minutes later, it says (words to the effect) "translation impossible." [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 10.0.1.218 (Mac OS X)
I tired it without deleting the previous version AND with deleting the previous version. In BOTH cases, flash vide on cnn.com will NOT play. Several other flash sites and youtube seem to be fine playing flash content with this beta, but cnn kills the deal for me. cnn.com's message is that it can't find the plug-in... which IS there (/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin). Flip4Mac Drive-in 1.0.0.71 (Mac OS X)
There is some weirdness going on... I tried 2 DVDs and after it finished with either one, it went into a prolonged beach-ball... both the application AND the Finder. I was simply trying to eject the physical DVD. Eventually, it returned control, but it was lost for way too long. On the UI front, when I re-launched it, I expected to see my "library" but found I had to specifically access it using GetFile. As such, it does NOT remember window position or size. I have 2 DVDs in one "container" as both are from the same film. BUT I can NOT edit the title of each to show which disc it is. Another issue is that it will NOT include some of the DVDs have created using my own video... it seems it won't do anything unless you HAD a bar code number. Of course, the real kicker has nothing to do with the developer and everything to do with the fruit... this program would be FABULOUS if we could "play" the DVDs through the Apple TV to our big TVs. Without that component, I'm afraid there's not much use for it. [alert admin]
