Eric's Ultimate Solitaire 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

10.6.2 update fixes crash

Yesterday's SL 10.6.2 update seems to have fixed the logout-crashes that I experienced when playing Eric's Ultimate, upgrade if you're having it it should work. [alert admin]

Smultron 3.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Good app but no longer being developed

Was just starting to get used to it and went to the developer's website for an update and…he's no longer developing it. [alert admin]

Apple NVidia FCode flasher 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Appeared in my Software Update but don't have MacBook

It appeared for me in Software Update--however I'm using a Mac Pro which is not listed as a model for this update (I do have a nvidia 7300 GT). I would have thought the updater would have been smart enough not to tell me I need it, we'll see what happens when I install it. [alert admin]

CleanApp 3.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Demo didn't seem to get everything

I tried the demo and it got some stuff but seemed to leave the things for a couple apps in Application Support…works as well as anything else I've tried but the others are free. Would love to see this work really comprehensively, so that I would feel confident about paying for it. I voted to recommend it below but it still needs a little work. Also I would prefer it if it worked transparently like AppTrap (you just throw stuff into the Trash and it comes up with a list of associated files. But again relatively minor stuff). [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 10.0.12.36 (Mac OS X)

Works fine except for YouTube when using Firefox

I keep getting the message: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player." I can view YouTube in Safari fine, so I don't know what the problem is. (Others have raised this issue but it's been this way for a couple months so it seems like Adobe isn't making it a very high priority for them). [alert admin]

Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Installed it but it doesn't work

I tried it even though it's from MS…but it didn't work. I went back to the Microsoft website and it told me I needed to install it…can't say I didn't try! [alert admin]

AcidSearch 0.62 (Mac OS X)

The best orphaned add-on ever—time to pass the torch?

The best Safari add-on *EVER*…but it doesn't seem to be under development any longer (I've emailed the developer a couple times over the past year or so, he's really nice but it doesn't seem like he has the time and/or inclination to keep AS up to speed)…could it be time to pass the baton? (find some other developer/development team that would be willing to take the project on) It's really a shame that nothing else like this exists, AFAIK (there's one for Firefox but Safari works on a lot more sites than FF in my experience). Either that or everyone else who uses it start sending him a shareware fee and maybe he'll take another look at it (yes I paid, and no, I'm not connected to him in any way). [alert admin]

Dashboard KickStart 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Works great and even quicker!

Works great for me (10.5.6) and he eliminated the intro splash screen. Works for me and still free… [alert admin]

Adobe Media Player 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Works well but installs itself as login item

Seems to work fine but installs itself as a login item in your system without being asked to or telling you. [alert admin]

Serene Saver Pro 3.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Loved it but a little pricey and my system was too slow

Really neat graphics and sounds, can adjust them to your liking, but just a little steep at $50 and it slowed down my system a little bit (1.8GHz iMac G5 with 1.5GB RAM). If you've got a faster system and dollars to spare I would definitely pay for it. [alert admin]

Did OS 10.6.1 break SpamSieve?

I haven't noticed anything (upgraded the week SL came out).

What??

This has happened with a number of recent releases; I emailed them and I think they said it was a bug in their software (VT's), having said that it's been a couple weeks I think they should have fixed it by now. I would still dl the software and check the ReadMe; it'll probably say it's for 10.6.

Compatible with Snow Leopard (10.6)

I lost ability to use the side buttons on my MS Laser Mouse 6000 around 10.5.7 IIRC, I was hoping these updates might remedy the problem (also can't start system from alternative volume using MS ergonomic keyboard but that might be inherent limitation with third-party keyboards) but no love…I like MS hardware but their software support for the Mac is regrettable IMO.

Thanks for the pointer (about selecting files) I wouldn't have figured that one by myself.

A couple of things...

Amen esp. to no. 1 I deleted a torrent three times before I realized I couldn't selectively delete files. And the info like in Transmission was missed, too; funny how those were the only things which stood out to me as well. But great that this is out for the Mac (although I haven't bothered to compare it head-to-head with Transmission, and probably never will.)

Why not version OS4X

It's also fairly asinine, insofar as it's a free program and they don't owe anything to anybody (because the OP was "told" it was the best program around? And please explain how Apple makes money if they *don't* release a Tiger-compatible version? Oh, it's all one big conspiracy, I forgot.)

Reverted to version 9

*One* site??? I find that practically half the sites I visit no longer work…maybe I just don't notice the ones that do. But a significant number of ones, including my credit card company, tell me to "upgrade". :-(
