MPFreaker 1.7.2 (Mac OS X)
Indeed, a bug was found that caused 1.7.2 to crash upon encountering some song files. This has been fixed, and 1.7.3 is now as stable as 1.7.1. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.6.3 (Mac OS X)
Needless to say, we haven't received any feedback indicating a problem like this, nor has any related problem come up in our testing. leconyc, in addition to publicly announcing a problem, it would be handy for you to contact support@lairware.com as well.
It is certainly true that one should try out shareware before buying it -- and in this case, you simply can't "run your entire library" until you have purchased MPFreaker. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.6 (Mac OS X)
Newly release version 1.6 does a much better job at finding art, lyrics, and other information than 1.5. Central Scrutinizer, I should point out that MPFreaker does not overwrite anything by default, one has to activate overwrite manually. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
The next version of MPFreaker has full lyrics support -- please try the pre-release beta available now and let us know what you think.
Beta test: MPFreaker 1.5 (with Lyrics!) [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Warren McCormack, please contact support@lairware.com. We haven't heard from anyone experiencing that sort of problem. Perhaps you have the "Cmp" (Part of a compilation) flag turned on incorrectly for those songs? Version 1.3.1 fixes the problem gwg76 was encountering. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.0b15 (Mac OS X)
Aristotele, please e-mail support@lairware.com if Beta 15 continues this behavior on your machine. Beta 14 had no problem adding scads of artwork in my tests. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.0b11 (Mac OS X)
Because of a few people's IP addresses being banned from AllMedia a while back (all almost certainly due to the use of MPFreaker), as of a few version releases ago MPFreaker entirely stopped using All Music Guide as one of its sources of information. While MPFreaker will work fine through an anonymizing proxy, I will nonetheless endeavor to ensure that this isn't necessary. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.0b11 (Mac OS X)
One bug in beta 10 (and all previous versions) was quite rare, and was only reported once. However, what most people were experiencing was another bug which appeared to primarily affect users running OS X 10.2.8.
Hopefully beta 11 will be extremely stable for everyone. [alert admin]

About the "Part of a compilation" setting
I don't know that this explains any of your incorrect results, but it sounds as if you have songs from "greatest hits" albums marked as being "part of a compilation". There isn't any official definition of what the "Part of a compilation" setting really means, but iTunes' automatic file organization implies that this setting should be used on songs which belong to an album comprised of different artists. I would be interested in hearing users' experience in this regard, either here or on the LairWare forums. [alert admin]

Fair warning, though conclusions not accurate.
I will have a version 1.0.1 out later today which will repair any AAC files which 1.0 rendered unplayable, and have ensured that MPFreaker 1.0.1 won't affect AACs in this manner anymore. Two important facts: 1) MPFreaker 1.0 only does this to AAC files which were already misnamed as ".mp3" files. This should be pretty rare. MPFreaker itself never renames files or converts song files from AAC to MP3. 2) MPFreaker 1.0 is only adding MP3-style…

Surfkw, you must understand that AllMedia (owner of www.allmusic.com, one of the databases MPFreaker uses) has been known to permanently ban one's IP address from accessing their web sites after running earlier versions of MPFreaker for quite a while.
1.0 beta 6 may be slower, but as you can imagine, the alternative would be much worse.
