Miro 2.5 (Mac OS X)
Library deleted by auto-update
The auto-update of Miro from 2.0.5 to 2.5 deleted my entire library of saved X-Play and Onion videos. I now have 2 or 3 GB more space on my hard disk but I'm not very happy with this. Miro also seems to have forgotten all that I previously downloaded. This has happened before on a more limited scale. Strangely, the older video's I previously saved are mentioned in the podcast lists so they can be downloaded again, but some files don't exist anymore and this represents quite a bit of effort and bandwidth. VLC media player 0.9.2 (Mac OS X)
After installing VLC 0.9.2, I have no more video image, only sound, when I play .flv files with Realplayer 11. This happens with OS X 10.4.9 and OS X 10.5.5 (PPC). These flash video files play fine with VLC, but as I use Realplayer Downloader a lot, this is a pain. Otherwise, VLC is still the best video player around. [alert admin]

Apple iPod shuffle Reset 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Do not eject your iPod shuffle when this program is working. I inadvertently did and now my iPod shuffle is dead. It does not even show up in the finder any more and neither the iPod software updater nor the iPod shuffle Reset Utility are able to fix it. [alert admin]

LimeWire X 4.9.12 (Mac OS X)
Best and fastest file sharing program, together with Azureus. I'm also still using 4.8.1 pro. I don't know if I should shell out for 4.9.12 pro. [alert admin]

MPlayer OS X 2.0b8r4 (Mac OS X)
I had to revert to Version 2b8. When playing .mov files in full screen, version 2b8r4 automatically quits full screen playback after a short while, my dock disappears when MPlayer is running and after a few retries the computer freezes. I had this problem on an eMac and on a iBook G4, both running OSX 10.3.9. [alert admin]

I used the Windows PC laptop of a friend to do the firmware upgrade. It worked immediately and was finished in a few minutes. [alert admin]

Linksys befsr41/befsr11/befsru31 1.46.2 (Mac OS X)
When I use MacTFTP to upgrade the firmware of my Linksys BEFSR41 ver.2.0 from version 1.42.7 to 1.46.2, I get the following error message in MacTFTP: An error of type -3170 occurred. Does anyone have any idea what this means and how to avoid it. Upgrading via the browser obviously does not work. If I connected someone's PC notebook to my router, would I be able to do a browser upgrade ? And finally, is the upgrade worth the hassle? [alert admin]

Firefox 3 crashes often on my Macs too. iBook 10.3.9, eMac 10.4.11 and iMac 10.5.4. One of the most affected sites is eBay. Sometimes the program just freezes. This really is a crappy beta release.
