GenoPro 1.99b (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

NOT Freeware

this is not freeware. When you launch it prompts you to register for a free 30 Day Demo, but to keep using the software, you'll need to purchase it. Needs to be reclassified. [alert admin]

not really shareware...

This appears to be a very nice vocab/flash card app geared towards teachers, but useful to students as well, but it's technically not shareware. This is a demo version of a commercial application (though admittedly, the limitations of this demo are very minor, and for the most part, the demo would suffice for general users.) The price a(approx $40) is a bit high for students looking for simple flash card app, but I imagine it's competitively low as far as comparable software for teachers. [alert admin]

Seagull Video Player 2.5 (Mac OS X)

Not likely to get my money

The app gives the appearance that it imports formats it can't view, leaving you with a useless icon in the library It struggled with .mpg files, which I consider to be fairly standard (if Quicktime can handle it with less trouble, you're app probably blows) It's slow to respond, and sometimes completely unresponsive. If there are problems beyond that, I don't know them, because I was so disgusted I stopped using it almost immediately I'd say the developer is slightly delusional if he/she thinks they're going to get someone to pay $90 for this without some MAJOR revisions [alert admin]

Footlights 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Hmmm...

I like the interface, ease of use, and generally nice appearance. I was looking for a media player that I could make playlists with. The only problem I see is that I don't seem to be able to play videos full screen on my second display (I have a dual display setup and generally like to play videos on the second screen, rather than the primary screen). The sound will continue, and the window will go full-screen but it just gets stuck on whatever frame it happens to be on when you go full screen. Unfortunately for me, that's a pretty important feature, but if they manage to work that bug out, I'd be ready to buy it. If you don't have a second display, I'd say it's worth the money. Now if only someone would make one of these with .wmv capability so I wouldn't have to deal with crappy MS software... [alert admin]

Cow French 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

...

This is really cute and well designed, but I'm not inclined to pay for something that has no practical purpose. Maybe if I were a kid or something... [alert admin]

Hue Go! 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Okay but...

Is the ability to copy 6 letters really worth 5 dollars? The digital color meter, which comes free with OS X can give pick any color from the screen and give you the hex code, percentage or actual value, both 8 and 16 bit. [alert admin]
