DynDNS Updater 2.3 (Mac OS X)

Awesome Update!

I've been using the DynDNS service for years. At first I had to manually update my IP addy. Then DynDNS update for Apple came along- and what a relief that was! I didn't have to update my IP by surfing to the DynDNS site anymore- the app did it automatically. Today I updated with the latest version, 2.3, and WOW! I love it. The look is so smooth, the documentation is written for both advanced types (me) and neophytes- so if you are is setting up this (esoteric to most folks) service for the first time- they hold your hand and explain everything! The widget for DashBoard is most stylish. Very cool. I highly recommend this latest incarnation of DynDNS Update... [alert admin]

X29-Renamer 1.4 (Mac OS X)

Such a Lifesaver!!!

I have a Buffalo Linkstation network drive attached (via Ethernet) to my Airport Extreme's LAN port. Using my Powerbook to edit audio, animation, etc makes it totally required for external storage- no pesky wires allowed either! Wireless only... My wacky descriptive naming of my art items would prevent some of them from being stored on the Buffalo Linkstation. I'd get tiresome error dialogs and the transfer would stop till I located the problem file name. (if there were too many characters, or a "/" or "*" or "?" was in the name it got rejected) For files to reside on the Linkstation, they must have OS9- Windows friendly names. One computer on our network boots into OS9, and if I used it to transfer the files to the Linkstation it would work- but the extra step took more time, and worse- the all-important file extensions would be mangled- I'd have to guess if the thing was a gif or psd or tif when I opened them from the Linkstation. And the forbidden characters mentioned above doomed their transfer no matter what. Very bothersome! Thanks to this little miracle app, X29, all I have to do is drop the folders on it, , and ZAPPO! they happily migrate to their new home- file extensions, custom icons, permissions intact. The few files rejected were easily repaired by removing the "?" or relaxing the "group" permissions of the item to "Read-Write" This app saved me much time. Thank you for creating such a priceless tool. I'm really ∞∞∞ grateful for your awesome work! [alert admin]

ClickRepair 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)

ClickRepair is a work of ART!

I have had such great results digitizing my vinyl using this application to fix the more challenged LP's. The developer created this software in the name of his own love of music- and the attention to detail really shows. The manual is so helpful with restoration technique suggestions. The presets are great- and if you want to set up some custom presets there's much to experiment with! I did a demo of it for my friend who was engineer at Fantasy Records, also worked for ILM- he wished this application existed when he was still in the music biz! Really... He was so impressed with the results I played for him. Brilliant work, great value. [alert admin]

DropCopy 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

DropCopy is a Home Networking Miracle!

This cool little application has made it possible for my husband to drop files on my desktop from his computer. I have always been able to do that as our network geek. What is second nature to me is just the total opposite trip for him. Back in the days of 10.2, I set up a "tunnel" for tossing files back and forth between his Den and my studio without much trouble- I called it "the wormhole". That was ok until 10.3... Once the new OS was installed I never dug another "hole". Yippy! Along came DropCopy- and it did it for me! I didn't have to tweak permissions, write concise instructions, etc. to make it easy for my non-geek to share files. DropCopy has worked flawlessly on all our computers via our 802.11G set-up. I've gotten the friends coming over to hang out in my "Laptop Lounge" to install it too. It enhances the time we share geeking around. Splendid work ya'll. Thanks! [alert admin]

JAlbum 3.6.1 (Mac OS X)

EUREKA! it WORKS!

I just want to share that this is a most remarkable Free app. The templates are a great start- then customize to your heart's content! I liked the black one that has customizable (by the viewer!) slide change intervals. The author's website has helpful documentation. The first couple times I threw out my show because I didn't fully understand the process. The third try worked like mad! Now I can't stop myself from making slideshows for all my friends. Thanks much... 5 stars for sure [alert admin]

ClearDock 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)

I found my…

version of cleardock was two steps behind, so I download the latest ****it goes into the correct place AND THEN- after logging out and in as suggested, MY FRUITMENU WAS WOUNDED! oh woe, fret, and (not quite) worry out loud. I love FRUITMENU, I did nothing to hurt or alter it! That APE needs manners! I will figure it out- but watch out! 10.2.5+Cleardock upgrade= cripple Fruitmenu contextual menu stuff, and the APPLE menu xtras. No 'move to' ,no 'open with', I might as well go to bed! I love UNSANITY gizmos- but who likes when an important navigation tool tubes in lieu of pretty colored triangles in the dock! As non linear and subjective a thinker as I am, I feel thwarted. This to shall pass.and besides, my SUPER GET INFO contextual menu plug in is Alive and Kicking! A generous 3 stars based on previously flawless behaviour and expectation of speedy resurrection of Fruitmenu, - Nite-nite. [alert admin]

iPulse 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

I found this…

excellent application on the iconfactory website- I posted some icons in pixelpalooza, (Vote for 'desktop pets' in "people's choice" :) then checked out the software offerings- iPulse revealed itself...! Once the app was installed and the read-mes had been read through,I paid the 10$ right away, then spent the next 3-4 hours doing the GUI colors (LOTS of choices!) and watched the rhthym of the OS doing its thing as I went about doing mine-. Within 24 hours I bought more RAM. IF your arsonal of software includes audio or imaging titles.....Get this BEAUTIFUL, infinitely configurable intelligent interface for reading the nuances of your OS's efficiency disk space, and the like. Interesting documentation to read adds to the coolness- Enough said... Way worth the $10. Pretty, too! [alert admin]

Safari Menu 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

I think this…

is the about the most useful freebie I've ever downloaded! Totally free of glitches and bugs for me! I use it every day and it launches the browser, returns my search results, goes away when I close the window...NO DOCK ICON!! I use mine as a login item... does what 'google assistant' does and more, takes up less precious space on my desktop. Thanks alot- I love it. Keep those simple, APPLE approved 'hack-ettes' coming! PS I just found out you can use this little sprig of groovy software as an APPLICATION LAUNCHER, too! Read the READ ME"S [alert admin]

I was so…

thrilled to find a software offering touted as an 'anti-productivity' tool! computers are tools, yes, but to have a constant PRESENCE interested in every move I make, unjudgementally observing my work, or just being tired and going to sleep...well ALL RIGHT ! Infinite configurations, personality settings, this is a welcome respite from 'connectivity issues' and the like. Try 'm-you'll love 'm. We adults need more wanton unserious joy like this smooth application supplies. They don't plead for my attention, they don't shed hair in my keyboard or knock stuff over on my drawing table- and the wee hours we spend together are harmonious. Thanks Ben. Your a genius ∞************live large!! [alert admin]
