Retrospect 8.1.622 (Mac OS X)

Gave up!

I finally gave up Retrospect earlier this year, I was a user since Dantz Retrospect 2. Version 2 through 5 were pretty good option for mac users back in the 80's and 90's, not anymore in my opinion. I switched to Bru Server and life is good. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 8.12 (Mac OS X)

Re: AMAZING PROGRAM

>> Quark have come a LONG way!! this version brings me back to Quark from Adobe! >> Try it out, everything Adobe has promised is in Quark already! >> Great job Quark and glad to be back with you guyz. You clearly must be drawing a paycheck from Quark because it hasn't come that far. Why would I spend $250 to upgrade my Quark when for a few hundred more I can upgrade my entire Adobe CS Suite? No thanks! [alert admin]

Retrospect client 6.2.234 (Mac OS X)

Turns Off

Turns itself off after restart on 10.5.5 Leopard. When back to 6.1.130, so far so good. [alert admin]

Suitcase Fusion 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Save your Money!

Does not appear to add anything over 12.1.7 except they're trying to make it look like iTunes. The ability to add fonts temporarily by dropping fonts and folders on the dock icon is missing. Also the main view window does not have the ability to toggle between Auto activated, Open, Closed, or Temporary fonts. Unless your having trouble save your money, I should have.. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Why?

Who still spends money to buy or upgrade this app? As a longtime prepress guy, I haven't used Quark with any regularity for years, most of our customers switched to ID back around v2.0. The only time I do use Quark is when I pull a job from our file archive and it happens to be Quark.. --tm2 [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 3.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Re: New Plugins Finally Released

Too late for me. I already switched to the lastest version of Suitcase, so far so good. Suitcase also claims to be compatible with Leopard. Even though I haven't updated to Leopard yet it's nice to know they are making headway in that direction. --tom [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 3.3.2 (Mac OS X)

No new versions

The new auto font activation in OS X Leopard may have something to do with their tardiness, or maybe they sold out to Suitcase.... [alert admin]

Re: Where is CS3 support?

After dropping them a few email earlier in the month, I was told version 4 with CS3 plugins will be out by the end of August. Two days and counting.... [alert admin]

Dantz Retrospect 6 Driver Update 6.1.4.103 (Mac OS X)

Works perfect!

I've been using this product since version 2, it's always works as expected. I currently use it to backup netwoked macs and pc's and use the ftp backup on the mac version for off site backups. Never a problem. I do however think the mac version is much easier to use then the windows version which seems a little clunky to me. [alert admin]

WHEN DID QXP JUMP-THE-SHARK™ ???

My best memory is when I told my Quark customers that for roughly the same price they could invest in Adobe Creative Suite 2 which includes InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop instead of buying Quark 7. And for a bit more they could add Acrobat Professional to it. Now instead of using Quark daily I'm down to weekly and my design customers are happy as clams!
