Adobe Reader 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Acrobat 9 Pro = Lots of Problems ![]()

I just upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro from Acrobat 8 Professional.
Some of the features that DID work are NOW BROKEN:
• The PDF Maker floating palette in MS-Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) no longer work. Clicking the PDF icon to create a PDF from your document does nothing.
• From within Acrobat 9 Pro, the *basic function* to create a PDF from a file (File—> Create PDF—> From File, then select *any* MS-Office document (.doc, .docx, .wks, .xls, etc.) results in an error that states the file type is NOT supported.
• I spoke with Adobe Tech Support who confirmed that the *only* way to create a PDF from an Office document is to PRINT to the Adobe 9 Printer driver. (less than intuitive)
So it appears that functions and features that worked just fine in Acrobat 8 Professional, are now broken with this update.
ABSURD! Why release an upgrade that doesn't work with the (by far) most popular and pervasive MS-Office software?!
More and more I am disappointed with Adobe's products and support for the Mac OSX platform. [alert admin]

Adobe Acrobat 9.0 (Mac OS X)
I just updated from Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I *used* to be able to print ANY Microsoft Office document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) by using the floating PDF icon on the palette in the Office application. This now DOES NOT WORK with the new (improved) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro software. Installing this *upgrade* has broken all of this functionality. ALSO: Within the Acrobat 9 Pro software, you create a PDF by going to the File Menu —> Create PDF —> from file and then select the file you want to convert to a pdf. This too DOES NOT WORK with any MS-Office document, from either the new Office 2008 for Mac or the prior Office 2004. The error message states: "Acrobat could not open xxxx.docx because it is either not a supported file type..." Again, NO Office document is supported. THE ONLY WAY to create a PDF is to *PRINT* to the Acrobat 9 printer driver. THIS IS CRAZY. Why would Adobe release an 'upgrade' which breaks functions (and obvious/basic ones at that) from its previous Acrobat 8 Professional software?!! [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Incorrect Link on Adobe's website
Adobe's website to download Adobe Reader indicates v9.0, but the link is still to v8.1.2. This is *NOT* Adobe Reader 9.0. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.1.2 (Mac OS X)
Apple Site: Incorrect Download Link!
Apple's website indeed shows the new Safari 3.1.2 available for download: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ HOWEVER, the download results in the older v3.1.1 software. So... from Apple.com, you cannot download the latest version directly. [alert admin]

Delicious Library 2.0 (Mac OS X)
What's Up with This 2.0 Release?! ![]()

I just downloaded and installed Delicious Library 2.0
*BUT* my license code from the previous v1.6.6 is not accepted. Is there a fee for this update?
ALSO...upon launching the software, I am greeted with the message:
Delicious Library 2 Graphics Slowdown
Delicious Library 2 is going to scroll and zoom very slowly
because your Mac is running Mac OS X 10.5.2, and we
require the critical graphics system updates in Mac OS X 10.5.3/
Please update your Mac to "Leopard" 10.5.3 as soon as you
can, and we will automatically switch to full speed.
Just one problem. There isn't (yet) a release for 10.5.3.

P.S. FYI ... once the "Getting Started" PDF is opened by Acrobat, and then re-saved, it then 'converts' from an Application file type to an appropriate PDF document.

I'm so glad to have read this post. I've NEVER been able to figure out why Entourage would automatically launch periodically without my launching the application! It's been VERY frustrating for ever. Now that I've changed MenuCalendarClock for Entourage to MANUALLY update, the problem has gone away. But of course, needing to remember to manually update MenuCalendarClock really defeats the purpose of the program being conveniently/readily available in the menu bar. So this program definitely needs…
