iTube Grabber 0.9.4 (Mac OS X)

Fails to launch

This app just refuses to launch. It bounces around in the Dock but nothing happens. So forget it. [alert admin]

SmartSleep 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Bad English

"you loose the ability" should read "you lose the ability". Language matters, folks ! It's how we communicate. [alert admin]

TVUPlayer 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Useless

This looks horrible, has a lousy selection of channels, and has no preferences that can be set. If you're serious about watching TV over the internet, try LiveStation. http://www.livestation.com/ [alert admin]

Path Finder 5.5.2 (Mac OS X)

Utterly pointless

I have tried Path Finder several times, trying to work out why some people speak so highly of it. It simply reproduces a number of the features that are already available in the Mac OS Finder, but, annoyingly, presents them as a separate application. If you're looking for a far better way to navigate back and forward through your file system, try Classic Menu. Which, as its name suggests, brings back the old Mac menu that allows you to read long file names and displays everything as a hierarchy you can zoom up and down with just *one* click. http://www.sigsoftware.com/classicmenu/ [alert admin]

MyMenuDate 3.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Useless

The clock can't be set to 24 hours and the date can't be set to use European format. So this app is useless for anyone in Europe. [alert admin]

VectorWorks 2010 (Mac OS X)

This will not run in Snow Leopard

I don't know what these people are up to. They knew Snow Leopard was coming out. All they say is that sometime in November some kind of patch will be available, but only for this version and VW2009. Anyone who is using an earlier version will have to spend a lot of $$$$ if they want to use VW in Snow Leopard. EVery other software manufacturer on the planet has made their software compatible with Snow Leopard, at no extra cost. But not good ol' Nemetschek. We take note of this. Another little nail goes into the coffin of VectorWorks on the Mac platform. [alert admin]

OmniFocus 1.7 (Mac OS X)

No way to try before you buy

There's no way to try this app before you buy it. Downloading an extracting it simply gives you a crazy message about "no password or too many people using the application - exit". So don't bother unless you feel like shelling out $$$ without knowing what you're getting. [alert admin]

NUD to iCal 1.01 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't work too well

it puts everything into iCal with the same date and does it all 3 times, so you have to go through everything changing the date and weeding out the duplicate events. Is this a time-saver? Not sure. [alert admin]

uCalendarX 3.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Sorry but...

if the guy who designed this can't even spell "Calendar" I'm not going to be using it. And clicking on the different "views" options does nothing. [alert admin]

Miss FruitMenu but Liking This

try CLassic Menu. It's much better, always accessible from the menu bar, and you don't need to use the keyboard + mouse to bring up the contextual menu.

So how does this expensive app compare to others?

Thanks a lot for pointing me to "Bookpedia". I've tried the others and they are only pale imitations. Bookpedia's the best, by miles!!!

You don't have to miss Eudora. It's still available. I'm still using it.
