XMIND 2008 3.0 (Mac OS X)

downloading from Vtracker

Emac, OS 10.4.9, 512mb ram - I downloaded this from VT using the download now link, it appeared to download successfully, but won't open from the desktop icon. Went to the developers site and went through all the registering hoops there, downloaded again with the same result. Is it 10.4 compatible like it says? [alert admin]

Flip4Mac WMV 2.2.1.11 (Mac OS X)

Anyone else now have 'jittery' movies?

eMac, 512g ram, OSX 10.4.9. Quicktime 7.4.5. Followed the upgrade prompt this morning and now none of my movies play seamlessly, they play in slow motion, each frame 'jittery' and with loads of frames missing from each 'play session.' Prior to this upgrade I never had a problem with this app and was considering buying into Flip4mac Pro.. [alert admin]

SuperDuper 2.5 (Mac OS X)

Superb support and very easy to use

Comments based on an Emac with 1gb ram, OS X 4.11. User Brilliant with OS 6 to 9 but totally out of it with OSX/Unix. After numerous crashes and losses of data (caused every time by installing the latest Apple security update), I bought an external USB hard drive, and after some VT research decided on Superduper as my backup system. I should have done things the other way round - on reading through SD's excellent manual, I found I should have bought a firewire drive as a USB one wouldn't provide me with a bootable copy of my HD. Anyway, I persevered and suffered a 22 hour wait whilst my files transferred over. Whilst this was happening, I inadvertently interrupted the transfer, and ended up in a complete mess with corrupted files all over the place. David, the developer was patience personified, and responded with in depth help and support within half an hour of my panic email. I have now purchased a firewire drive, and the same process took 1.5 hours, was completely me proof, and I now have a bootable hard drive that backs itself up each evening at 2130. Absolute simplicity. I can't recommend this software or the developer too highly. [alert admin]

PreMinder 0.4.8 (Mac OS X)

I agree totally with mseik

I currently use daychaser as my preferred calendar, and out of curiosity downloaded this app earlier this afternoon. This has far more functionality and as the previous reviewer has stated, has a very bright future. It's easy to use, intuitive, very classy and easy on the eye. I had loads to say about it, but it's all been covered by mseiks review, even down to the request for sound reminders and a year calendar view. Although VT shows Preminder as a Beta concept, a quick visit to the preminder website shows that this is donatioware at the moment. I'm going to throw some money at it as soon as I post this. To Alec the Developer - this is great work - but watch it , Apple might buy this out. It blows ical out of the water. See for yourself. [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.6 (Mac OS X)

Cracking piece of software

I use a pre intel emac, with OSX 10.4.9 and this works like a charm. Faster than Opera, zillions of times better than safari, and ultimately customisable in its appearance, you can probably tell that this is my preferred Browser. If you are a serious eBayer, Mozilla's new, downloadable Firefox Companion for ebay is seamless and gives you a running sidebar of your latest bids and how they are performing. Love it. Not very easy to use

I've just downloaded the trial version from VT and the developers have included a movie clip that gets you up and running virtually straight away. Hope this helps.
