expod 0.3 (Mac OS X)
expod stopped only 5% of the way through the copy process. It had problems copying certain songs, saying something like "This song could not be copied." I tried to copy just the songs that were in question, but still no luck. If you don't mind copying all the songs off of your iPod, I would recommend podUp. [alert admin]

podUp is an all-or-nothing app. It will copy everything off of your iPod to the Destination Folder you specify, so you can't select individual tracks from the iPod. This works well for the smaller iPods like the shuffle, mini, and nano (6GB max at the time of writing). And if you're paranoid like me. you probably want to ensure that everything from your iPod (of any size) is copied. I highly recommend it.
Recently, my girlfriend asked me to copy some songs from my Mac to her iPod shuffle. Of course, iTunes wouldn't let me add songs to her Shuffle without "Erasing and Syncing" the entire thing, since it was tied to another computer. Erasing was not an option, so I had to find a way to get those songs off the Shuffle. podUp was one of the few freeware iPod-to-Mac apps on versiontracker, and it worked as promised. It's really easy, too -
- Drag the iPod icon onto the window
- Drag the icon of the Destination Folder
- Finally, click the "Copy Files" button. I love how it also displays the number of songs on the iPod.
