TranslateIt! Deluxe Widget 2.0.9 (Mac OS X)

Additional Requirements?

Seems to require a translation dictionary of some sort. No idea where these are supposed to come from, or if they cost extra. There is no link in the widget itself to download or install additional dictionaries, and none are included. So overall, it is useless as it is. [alert admin]

English-Chinese Dictionary Pack 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Downloading sucks

This method of downloading is horrible. Is this seriously the only way to make the files available? Send people to a covered in soft-porn ad spam, so they can try to find the button for downloading, and then figure out why it still doesn't download (find the CAPTCHA)??? Even if you do all that, you still get very slow download speeds. [alert admin]

Marine Aquarium 2.6.0rc2 (Mac OS X)

What a rip off

I've already paid $20 for a screensaver, even though there are hundreds of screensavers for free, and among those who do charge it is usually $5-$10. So it was already pretty pricey. Now they want to charge another 6 bucks for this minor update? As if! It's only 2 more fish to choose from, and a clock. I already have lots of clocks, thank you. It might be worth a small upgrade cost if this were version 3 instead of 2.6, with various plants and coral to choose from. Some other interesting options and improvements they could add include seaweed to move with the waves, higher resolution coral with anti-aliased edges, backdrops other than just a simple blue (like foil or holograms to catch the light, or some ocean photos), plastic decorations and aerators (like a little deep-sea diver or a pirate's chest), some different scale fish like small sharks and barracuda and eels, the ability to drop in fish food that the fish would swarm to eat, snails and shrimp and other more exotic marine life, the possibility of having more than 8 fish. All these things would be welcome as a paid upgrade such as $6. But just 2 more fish plus a clock?!?! I am distinctly under-whelmed. It seems like this company can't figure out ways to sell their product to more people, so they just try to squeeze more money out of their existing ones with this "phoned-in" upgrade. If you are buying it for the first time it's OK for a $20 splurge; just don't expect any significant improvements for a long time (or ever). It's been 3 years since the I bought mine, and this is all they came out with after all that time. [alert admin]

Groupcal 3.15 (Mac OS X)

Does it work now

In the new features, I didn't see whether it is able to launch without crashing yet. Is it any more stable than it was before? [alert admin]

Mail2iCal 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't work

I tried this in Mail 2.0. Doesn't seem to do anything other than ask what calendar. Doesn't ask what date to attach the event to or anything like that. I did get this in my Console: ISyncSession record validation failure: pushRecord: resulted in ISyncChange add and is missing required property owner on entity com.apple.calendars.Attendee [alert admin]

Sounds like a good idea, but nothing ever appears in the image well, so I can't drag it anywhere. [alert admin]

needs work. Clicking…

on the column headings does not re-sort the list, as one would expect. That would have been really useful, especially if there was a column for publication date, which there was not. Also, it only gives customer reviews. There is no synopsis and no professional reviews. Those would have been good choices for tabs in the text display area. In fact, a synopsis seems like an odd omission, as it seems like the thing you would most want to read about the book. [alert admin]

RE: Check website...

Nothing there at that site about Mail or return receipts or scripts or anything. Just some links to Joel's other sites, which are focused on his Christian faith and his family.

RE: Perhaps I don't get it...

Yep, you don't get it. The synonyms are there, they are just more organized than in a regular thesaurus. If you click on "similar" meanings for the word "group", you get "group", "unit", set", "meet", and "communal", all of which are synonyms for "group". If "unit" is along the lines of the meaning you want, there are 2 more specific words: "chemical group" and "radical". If you want a bigger list right from the get-go,…
