BOINC 5.10.28 (Mac OS X)
Everything is normal in 10.4 I noticed that after upgrading to MacOS 10.5, BOINC (no matter what version I use between 5.10.20 and 5.10.28) runs as a "user" process instead of a "nice" process. I think this is a problem with MacOS 10.5 because using the renice command doesn't change this. 5.10.28 runs doesn't slow down the system nearly as much as the other versions, but still doesn't work the way it did in 10.4 This is something to be aware of so you know to quit (or snooze) BOINC if you need performance from an app (until this is fixed that is). Region X 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Usefull if you use Apple's DVD Player
This software changes the software region setting so that you can use programs such as Apple's DVD Player. Having a region free drive doesn't mean that your software doesn't check for a region in your preferences. [alert admin]

This sounds like a great program. It would be great if it worked with the Nextel network. [alert admin]

Fluid 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
of the best looking screen savers I've seen. There seems to be a problem with wide screen displays. It runs fine at 1024x768, but takes forever to even fade in at 1152x768 on my (original) PowerBookG4 500Mhz. I didn't have this problem with the previous version. (MacOS X.2.4, 1GB RAM, Fluid 2.0.3) [alert admin]

ffmpegX 0.0.6g (Mac OS X)
is one of the options (selected by default, but for some reason not allways installed by Apple) in the MacOS X installation. I use OSEx to rip the DVD into one VOB file and then transcode using ffmpegX. alxoitas, thanks for the correction (I needed to add it to my PowerBook G4 that shipped with OS X) [alert admin]

ffmpegX 0.0.6g (Mac OS X)
with OSEX and toast are the best combination for converting DVDs to other formats. It would be nice to convert (ie. PAL DVD to NTSC DVD) while keeping the menus from the source. (maybe too much to ask for in freeware) AWESOME PROGRAM!!! [alert admin]
