Mactracker 5.0.11 (Mac OS X)

5.0.11 fixes a few of the issues I was having

I've been using Mactracker for years and if you support Mac's it is a must have. I just upgraded from an old version (5.0.7) and it fixed the main problem I had with the software. For some reason the old version would give the error "Mactracker.app wants to use your confidential information stored in "Exchange Access Group" In your Keychain. This had me concerned that it had become some sort of malware so I had sadly thrown it out. I needed information in it again and I tried the new version and the error message has gone away! I feel like I can use it again without worrying that there is something wrong with the software. [alert admin]

Outspring Mail 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Most worthless mail client ever used

This mail client is so bad I actually had version tracker reset my password so I could log in an review it. It is absolutly worthless as an imap client. I attempted to move an imap folder local and a local folder up to imap (something I do all the time to make sure my mail is available on every machine I use, but not go over my mail quota). Luckily I backed up before using this product because every time I tried to move a folder either way the folder moved but every message inside disappeared forever. There doesn't seem to be an accurate progress bar. It says it's done, but the messages are gone never to re appear. On a beefy brand new laptop, the outspring eats most of the CPU. As an added bonus if you choose this product and hate it there are 0 export options to move to another client. [alert admin]

Battle For Wesnoth 0.8.3 (Mac OS X)

Keeps getting better and better

Every time I download an updated version of this game I'm completely surprised by how much it has grown. Version .8 is amazingly different then the .6 which was the last version I used. Better graphics, more scenarios, and new troops are just part of the improvements of this version. It is pretty much a completely different game. If you played an earlier version try this one out! The saves and reloads now work properly (you don't lose all your houses on a reload). I keep looking forward to improvements on this game and you can't beat the price. [alert admin]

NameCleaner X 2.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Great Product-No Name Length Limitation

This is a very cool product for changing file names and adding extensions. We were using File Manipulator, but it was worthless because it could not append to a file that had 29+ characters. It even worked on my really long file names. I'm definitly going to suggest to my managment to drop File Manipulator and move to Name Cleaner X because it works much better for what we need. Another cool feature is that it can be set to run on intervals. Once we get our license I can set it to run on one of our shared servers so all the files will be viewable for both Mac and Windows. File Manipulator 2.0.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Great Program with 1 Great big Flaw

This program is amazing how easily you can write scripts to add the proper extension to just about any file. Within 30 minutes I had written a script that when I dropped a users hard drive on it added the proper extensions to the users files. This made it so much easier to move people for Mac to Windows. I even had it remove characters that are not allowed in Windows File names. I was all set to ask for a deparmtent license from my management when I noticed it will not work on files with long file names. Something that every mac user has. In order to ensure correct naming I still had to manually scroll through all the directories and rename 1/2 the files by hand. This limitation makes the product pretty much worthless to me. It is truly amazing except for this show stopping flaw. [alert admin]

wClock v. 3 works great with Panther an no dock icon!

I've been using this product for quite some time and it has always worked perfectly. This is by far the best version yet! There is no dock icon and it's easy to adjust the preferences. (Which wasn't so easily done if before you had done the info.plist trick.) The new look for the calendar is very attractive and this version fixes the problem in Panther where the clock was not on the right hand side of the menu bar. An easy pop-up calendar is the only feature I've felt that the mac is missing and this app takes care of it flawlessly. Author is very responsive when you ask questions or report problems. VLC media player 0.5.3 (Mac OS X)

Play DVD's on Non-Apple Dvd Players

I orignally downloaded this program so I could watch movies on my new firewire dvd burner that the Apple DVD player doesn't support. It does a great job. Really smooth and as a bonus all the movie files I havn't been able to open now work perfectly. I have had to ssh into my machine once to kill the VLC process when it locked my computer, but that's only happened once and I use it quite a bit. [alert admin]

VueScan 7.6.43 (Mac OS X)

Agfa Studostar works like a champ!

I have a user we just converted to OS X. He has an older SCSI Agfa Studiostar. No one seemed to support this software in OS X. I started downloading Scanner software and seeing if anything would work with this scanner. VueScan was the only one that did! Installed it and it just worked. [alert admin]

Enigmo 1.2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Great Game but sound control is very poor

I love this sort of game and I can play them for hours. I like being able to build my own levels and downloading other people's levels. The only thing I dislike is that the game always starts with the music on and you cannot turn off the game sounds though you can turn off the music. The music is very loud (actually painfull if I'm wearing headphones) and if I forget to mute before opening Enigmo I get a loud blast. This is a game that ambient sounds are not required for game play but you cannot turn them off. I'd rather hear my MP3's than dripping. All in all I give it 4 stars which I'll upgrade to 5 when they have an easy way to do a permanent mute. [alert admin]
