Apple Backup 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Every version we have used has failed in one way or another. Most recently, when I set up Source and Destination HDs and select what to back up, it garbles things badly, especially by refusing to back up to the external HD I have picked and switching to another HD. Worse, it saves to the wrong backup folder. As with another reviewer, when I tried to recover, it was not effective. I know that Apple is capable of superior software design, as with OS X, but the .Mac "benefits" package software has been second rate at best. [alert admin]

BackityMac 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
1.1.2 downloaded and run on OS X 10.4.6. When backup of my home files selected, the progress bar froze up at about 2 mm. Same on 2 tries. [alert admin]

Macscan's ad in Macworld (9/07) says nothing about being a beta version and none of the comments above suggests there is merit to the software. I would not even try it with 100% negative comments from Versiontracker users.
