Xtorrent 2.0 (v83) (Mac OS X)
I've been using xtorrent since it was released and Acquisition before that and have been relatively happy with both products.....until now. Since upgrading to version 2 I find that searches are pretty hopeless as there is a load of junk results that are returned making finding legitimate torrents a chore. Even when I do find a torrent that I searched for it's hit and miss as to wether it starts to download. I believe that this is because a lot of trackers block the developers torrent apps for some reason unknown to me. At least in version 1 you could tell if a tracker had banned the client easily enough. Now you can't and the torrent just sits there in your queue doing nothing. I've also found that download speeds seem to be a lot slower and many torrents seem to just stop downloading part way through and the only way to get them going again is to either pause & restart the download or restart the app. I think i've just about had it with this app for the time being and will be looking to try an alternative. It's a shame because I really do like the app but it's just not working in its current state. I agree that the customer service from the developer is lacking but I could live with this if the app did a good job. So what's the best torrent out their for osx?.....Transmission?.... please let me know. [alert admin]

PulpMotion 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I tried installing this app again when I upgraded to the new MacBook. My serial number was rejected so I used their contact form on their website to receive a new activation key as my app had been installed previously. The activation key was rejected when trying to activate. I requested another and the same key was sent. I left it a few days and requested yet another activation key. This time a new key was sent but was still rejected when trying to activate. I've since sent them an email via their web form but am still waiting for some sort of response. In the meantime I cannot use this application that I duly paid good money for. Very poor customer service in my opinion. I'll give it a few more days to see if I get a response. If I don't I'll resort to downloading a cracked version and refrain from buying any of their apps in the future. I'd rather not have to do this but if this is the only way that I'll be able to use an app that I paid for then so be it. [alert admin]

Logitech Harmony Remote 7.5.0 (Mac OS X)
Worse than last version for me. ![]()

I've always struggled to like this software. Logitech make probably the best affordable all in one remotes in my opinion but their software stinks big time. Upon installing this latest update it told me there was an update for my sky+ box PVR so I downloaded it thinking it would make the functionality somewhat better. Not only were the settings much worse than what was previously available it removed all of the previous settings so I could not revert back. I'm now stuck with having to use my sky+ remote to control the thing as the Harmony remote doesn't control it at all now. I also now find that the software will not update the remote once i've changed the settings and i've used 2 different macs, 2 Windows PCs and the alternate web interface without any success. I hope Logitech fix these issues fast by bringing out a new update otherwise I may consider selling my Harmony 1000 remote altogether. I've had it since it first came out and although the remote looks mighty fine it is dog slow and not intelligent at all. Don't get me wrong, I was willing to put up with it's many faults as the last version of this software was in my opinion about the best it has been so far, but this latest update has destroyed any credibility that the team behind this software may have earned from me. GarageSale 4.0b6 (Mac OS X)
I've used this for a while and it's interesting to see that the version numbers have gone from 3.4.1 straight to 4.0.b5 overnight. It sounds like they are trying to cash in and make users pay for a version increase which is in fact still beta (why not implement the upgrade fee when it's out of beta???). I can't really see much extra functionality that i'd use for the money between 3.4 & 4.0 so for the time being i'll be sticking with the older version which works just fine. I'm all for paying for upgrade's within reason, but give me something substantial for my money else i'm going to start looking elsewhere. [alert admin]

Just to defend this application and it's developer a little bit as he and his application seems to get more than its fair shair of stick. I've owned and purchased this application from day one being a long time Acquisition user. I've used all the mac peer 2 peer applications out there and can honestly say that xtorrent is the best of the bunch. In all the time that i've used this app I think its maybe only crashed on 2 occasions and I use it on a daily basis. I use this on a PPC G5 and an Intel MacBook by the way and have found that on both machines it's nowhere near as resource hogging as some alternative apps. Sure, there are free alternatives out there but it always comes back to this point.....you get what you pay for. In my opinion this is worth every penny and more. For those having issues out there, don't be so quick to blame the app or the developer. Why not have a look at your own systems first and really assess how stable they are before pointing the finger. Google Desktop 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
I installed this app last night and it seemed to run fine, although i'm not sure what the real benefit is over spotlight. I decided to keep it anyway as I quite like the application launcher side of things. Turned of mac before bed last night and went to boot up this evening after work and mac kept on kernal panicking. Tried to resolve but could not and now i'm faced with reinstalling everything all over again after a clean OSX install. Lucky for me it's the Easter weekend and I a) have the time and b) have pretty much everything I need backed up. I can't say for sure that this app caused my problems but I now for sure everything was fine beforehand and this was the only installation carried out yesterday. Therefore, tread with caution. Acquisition 120.4 (Mac OS X)
Of all the P2P applications out there this one has to be the most stable, easy to use and refined of the bunch. I have been a registered and fully paid up user of this app for a number of years and occasionally do try out all the others out there. However, Acquisition is the only one that always remains on my hard drive and never gets deleted. It is the best. If anyone likes this app then I would encourage them to cough up the small amount of money that the developer deserves. Without this payment teh developer is less likely to continue making this great app better & better with future revisions. Come on, support the developer (and no I have no connections with him whatsoever) [alert admin]

Quite a good little program if you require something like this. It's very easy to use and very easy to add your own maps. There's not a great deal to customise in this program and to be able to zoom in/out on a particular area of a map would really improve the product. I had to contact the author to ask a simple question and was quite pleased to receive a response within the hour (on a Saturday as well!!) I'd recommend this program to anyone requiring such and hope that the developer continues to add features in the future [alert admin]

DeliciWeb 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I too had similar problems with this release. I e-mailed the developer and got a very speedy response. He even e-mailed me the next beta release which now works flawlessly. I suspect this release will be updated very soon. [alert admin]

For the amount I rely on this application I would willingly pay 3 times as much. It's worth every penny.

Not sure what this guy is on about. Yes you can use this software without paying for it if you don't mind the nag screen. However i'm minded to pay for any software that I find useful and use on a regular basis. I've never had to contact the developer in the 3 years that i've owned this product and i've found this to be the most reliable of P2P apps available…

Purchased the software 3 days ago. Can't say I saw any improvement at all. Today I have noticed that the app has been pulled from their website without any explanation as to why. I guess future support is out of the question then!!
