ShoveBox 1.0 (Mac OS X)

redundant

I like the idea of this tool. It's unobtrusive to have an all purpose drop box in the menu. I often, will just save or copy items to the desktop when I'm in a hurry. ShoveBox does not let you really do that. You have to be in an app where you can drag stuff to and fro and into SB. So if you're on a webpage and want to save an image you can drag it to SB. Then later, you'll have to EXPORT it to somewhere else.... not very intuitive or maclike. It would be cool if you could be anywhere, an app., a page, the desktop/finder and just drag stuff to SB and actually MOVE it there. (Instead, it currently COPIES the file to its own location, I don't want or need 2 copies.) Then it would be nice if SB let you open a well organized thing.... say a folder, that had other things... say nested folders, neatly organized by file type, name, whatever. This would be fast and efficient. Currently SB is neither. Perhaps 1.5 will be. I'd like to see it do some or all of these things. move actual files move any and all files (currently it's only specific types) keep them well organized in a series of nested folders allow me to then open that nesting and do what I want with them allow me to set the labels of and creation of the nested folders [alert admin]

Apple Airport Extreme Update 2007-004 (Mac OS X)

memory leak

Wanted to let other users know. Since installing, I've replicated the following problem easily. This update uses between 94-98.7% of the CPU when you reboot. I noticed some incredible lags in my MBP and an extreme and otherwise not usual heating. When going into the activity monitor the usage for the airport is sky high. Shutting off the airport and just turning it back on seems to stop this memory leak and over heating. Until you reboot the problem does not resurface. [alert admin]

Apple Airport Extreme Update 2007-004 (Mac OS X)

Dear Apple...

Why is my airport using up 94.10% of my processor since this update? I'd like to actually be able to use some other apps while being connected. Since the MBP c2d, I've had nothing but problems with the airport and connectivity and, while this updates seems to have fixed some connection issues, it's gobbled up ever f#$%ing cycle doing so. I know, just like everything else, you'll ignore any comments anywhere. You'll just plod along without any customer service. Thanks. [alert admin]

Play Sound 1.6.6 (Mac OS X)

thank YOU!

I cannot imagine using my mac without this. The throttle hold itunes puts on sounds is horrid. When I switched to OsX in 2002 the loss of just playing a sound via the finder was a huge problem for me. Ever since Play Sound came out I've been a happy user. Just a note to those who don't know it, hit command-. to stop a sound if you need to. I've never had a problem with this player. Thanks again. [alert admin]

PandoCalendar 7.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Great lil app!

I has this for years on my old macs. When I went up to X I missed it. It's great to see it back again and working well! This is a really good calendar that blends unobtrusively into your desktop. As for the pop up message. I don't mind it or find it invasive. Just don't use the app if you don't like the terms of use. You'll be the one missing out on a useful tool. [alert admin]

You Control 1.5 b1 (Mac OS X)

B is for buggy

I really think this is a great app. It's smaller footprint and better calendar make it far more usable (for me) than Butler. The fact that it has seizures on my MBP makes it useless to me though. Hopefully an update will fix it. [alert admin]

Coda 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Better alternatives...

I used it. Would never pay for it. And most likely will never use it again.

  1. poor text editing
  2. mediocre css editor
  3. only previews safari (sadly a limited # of ppl use it and we must test in EVERYTHING still)
  4. it saves a total of no effort, you either have to switch tabs or switch apps... um... so?
  5. WAY TOO web 2.0 glossy passé bullshit
  6. difficult to find common elements
  7. NO auto complete!
For this to become a contender to SKEdit or Dreamweaver it will be a bloated app. So it's rather pointless isn't it?

In the end way too much $ for minimal payback. [alert admin]

LauncherX 1.40 (Mac OS X)

Harsh on the eyes

One of the beauties of OSX is it's graceful style. LauncherX takes that away and give you a very utilitarian app that is almost completely not customizable. A far superior product that I wish would goto Universal and get on board with the new chipset is DropDrawers. I've used it for years and would be lost with out it. [alert admin]
