Toast Titanium 9.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Blu-Ray Support

I've been using Toast for Blu-Ray since version 8 and I'd like to provide some feedback on dynamic BD-RE (rewritable) support in Toast 9. 1) Blu-Ray BD-RE dynamic writing makes the disk function like a hard drive. No need to burn. Similar to how DVD-RAM works. 2) Roxio in it's idiotic wisdom choose to switch from HFS+ support to UDF support for BD-RE dynamic writing. 3) Their are no disk utilities for UDF on the Mac, so you cannot repair or verify the disk structure, like I could with HFS+ using Disk Warrior or any other disk utility. 4) UDF does not support journaling like HFS+ so a crash can corrupt your disk, which you can't repair since their are no disk utilities for UDF on the Mac. 5) The version of UDF that BD-RE dynamic writing supports doesn't support individual file sizes above 4GB, so forget about backing up full DVD disk images larger than 4GB. 6) When I contacted Roxio about these issues, They suggested that I back my files up to DVD. 7) Why in the hell do I need Blu-Ray for backup, if I'm suppose to use DVDs. 8) Roxio only think we use Blu-Ray for movies. I was using it as a replacement for DVD-RAM. [alert admin]

Canon CanoScan Toolbox 4.1.3.0 (Mac OS X)

LIDE 35 is the LIDE 50

Use the driver and toolbox software for the LIDE 35 to run the LIDE 50. They are the same scanner. The LIDE 35 was just updated for Leopard. It works as of OS X 10.5.2 http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=119&modelid=10241 [alert admin]

Turn off without unistalling?

Can you turn it off on the fly? Without that its kinda worthless, since sometimes you want to visit Dinsey or other banned sites. [alert admin]
