SmartLedger 2.4b (Mac OS X)
I'm not a number guy. I am also not an advocate of shoe box accounting, but unfortunately I tend to find myself in that position at the end of each year. It is so good to be able to just pull stuff out of that box and enter it as it comes, letting the software sort and collate it instead of me doing the dry run with receipts stacked in date piles before actually entering the data into something I've forgotten how to use. How to make this application useful is so obvious that I truly almost didn't even bother exploring the sample entries. It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. It is a straight forward entry system that creates a clear presentation of my accounts that is useful to me and also to my accountant. Even if you payed for it, tried it and decided it didn't meet all your needs, or you simply out grew it at some point, hey it's $20. My time is worth more than that, I'm sure yours is too. It has saved me loads of number thinking aggravation I'd rather leave to an accountant, so that I can work on other things I'm much better at. My accountant doesn't expect me to have a pro accounting application or to know how to use it, but does appreciate an organised presentation, (even if basic), which saves them time and me cost. SmartLedger does this for me anyway. This simple app also allows you to usefully print or export your information for your accountant into a variety of formats useful for a number of accounting packages if required. I am a happy paid up Shareware user. [alert admin]
