Apple iPhone 3.0 (Mac OS X)

not a pleasant experience

I downloaded and installed on my iPod Touch 2G. While the extra features were nice, I had MAJOR WiFi connectivity issues that I didn't have under 2.2.1. Specifically, my Touch dropped WiFi connections in both my home and in most WiFi hotspots. I did all of the usual troubleshooting; reset my home router, the Touch's network settings, did a hard and soft reset, etc. The problem was resolved when I restored the OS to 2.2.1. I remember a time when Apple didn't release software until it was thoroughly tested and found to be relatively bug-free. Apparently we're now all unpaid beta-testers. And before anyone comments; yes, I should know better than to download and install a 1st day major upgrade ;) [alert admin]

GlimmerBlocker 1.2 (Mac OS X)

what's with the 10.5 only support?

A good number of us are still using Tiger because of how buggy Leopard is, and has become. In fact, Leopard has been one of Apple's slowest selling OS's. Why then are developers continuing to cater to this minority? [alert admin]

MacTubes 2.0 (Mac OS X)

a beautiful thing!

As a recent iPod Touch owner, I've been looking for an app. that will let me save YouTube video. I have used TubeTV to mixed results; there are A LOT of files on YouTube that would download correctly, but wouldn't convert. Not only is MacTubes faster, (probably because there's no integrated browser) there are no annoying splash screens asking for a donation. I also like that you can pick the quality of the download. It takes a bit of work to figure out the interface although there are instructions included. All in all, a well executed, well thought out program. I thank the developer for taking the time to come up with it! [alert admin]

non-existent support

I emailed the developer to ask some very specific questions concerning how this product works. This is the response I received; On Oct 23, 2008, at 6:09 AM, Big Key Mail Support wrote: there are several features. the nest is that you try the app. The sdk permits things that we are not even aware.. You can see some details about the features here: www.bigkeymail.com This may be the greatest program of its kind for iPhone and iPod Touch. I however, will never know. [alert admin]

Apple Airport Extreme Update 2008-001 (Mac OS X)

a mess

I've downloaded every update for my iMac that's been published from Apple. Repaired Permissions before and after installing. Never had a problem until now. This one has proven to be a real pain in the ass. My connections fell off, dropped out, disappeared all together, et.al. Finally did an Archive and Install to rid myself of it. I don't understand why you can't roll-back updates to the Extreme Card, like you can with the Extreme Base Station. Or maybe Apple just wants to sell more external hard drives and Time Machine software? [alert admin]

VMware Fusion 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

S......L......O......W when using Vista

The short version; this program SUCKS with Vista. The long version; lots of problems with graphics performance; many artifacts when starting up. Difficult to resize windows. Also, wireless mouse issues; slow tracking, even after cranking up speed in Control Panel; "rainbow" pointer. Overall, VERY sluggish, even after downloading VMWare Toolbox. In fact, the mouse worked better with Vista's own driver. Tried allocating 2GB of RAM, cranking up graphics acceleration, selecting 2 virtual processors, to no avail. VMWare's web site is essentially useless for troubleshooting. If you're going to charge $60.00 for a Windows emulator guys, get your heads out of your collective a***s. Make a product that works with Vista and make your web support user friendly. Did anyone from VMWare TRY Fusion with Vista before releasing it? iMac 24" 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM [alert admin]

not a pleasant experience

...and I notice most of YOUR previous posts deal with whining and bi***ing about minutia such as software version numbers not displaying correctly. I'm talking about a PAID upgrade for iPod Touch users that isn't working. If I'm PAYING for software, I expect something as essential as wifi to work correctly. If it doesn't, than my touch is little more than a glorified paperweight. Yes, I object to being an unpaid beta tester. So should you if…

Best update yet! Good job Apple.

I've used a Kensington USB Hub for some time and NEVER had a syncing, charging, or updating issue.

nice effort but...

Well, NO it doesn't, at least using 10.4.10 on a 24" Intel Core 2 Duo. I used your "Restore Icon" feature and my dock icon was restored, NOT the application icon. After deleting iConiCal, its preferences and related files, restarting the computer, THEN restarting the application, iCal's icon didn't change. I grow weary of developers inferring that users are either lying, or we're hallucinating when we report bugs with your programs. Gee, is it at least…
