Woot.com Widget 3.5.0 (Mac OS X)
great, but could use one more thing... ![]()

i love the idea and it looks great, but I would like to have just one widget that could display multiple woots at once (I'm a frequent shirt.woot and the classic wooter). I have so many widgets already, it would be nice to have this all in one. [alert admin]

Apple Numbers 1.0 (Mac OS X)
While the layout and look of Numbers is striking, and the usability is much better than Excel, Apple really dropped the ball on one key function - error bars on graphs! If you're going to use this product for any scientific purpose, don't. It does not have the ability to add error bars, an absolute must for anything in science. It's really unfortunate because the graphs are beautiful (much nicer than Excel which always made ugly graphs, imo). Perhaps the next release. [alert admin]

XPlasMap 0.95 (Mac OS X)
I can't get this program to work - every time I try to do something it quits. It looks promising but since I can't get it to work, I can't tell what it can do. The program I really like for this type of application is ApE (A Plasmid Editor): http://www.biology.utah.edu/jorgensen/wayned/ape/ Works great and it's very easy to use. [alert admin]

Microsoft Windows 2000 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
For some reason WinZip always crashes on my computer so I had to find an alternative. Zip Free 2000 is much more stable. I would like to see one change: a better way to specify the file destinations when files are unzipped. [alert admin]

FreeZip 1.4.9 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
this product was more stable on my computer than winZip, but I would like to see one change - an easier way to specify the location for file destinations. [alert admin]

Symantec Norton AntiVirus 10.0.2 (Mac OS X)
It's true that there are no viruses for OS X, but I was recently updating a Mac to Tiger and installed a copy of Norton (we get it for free through company access anyway) on it just as a precautionary measure, and it found 13 viruses! They were PC viruses, so there was no risk of infecting the Mac, but keep in mind that every time you're sharing files with another computer, you're putting other computers (PCs) at risk. So, you can be selfish and say there are no viruses for your OS, or you can protect others. [alert admin]

I had a little problem too - after the update my Excel just disappeared off my hard drive. I know it sounds strange, but it was just gone - I couldn't find it anywhere. I had to reinstall Excel from the CD, then reinstall the update. Weird.
