Hordes of Orcs 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I like it...

Despite some other reviewer's "opinions", I really liked the game and purchased shortly after playing the demo. I then proceeded to spend the next 5 hours playing and trying different strategies. Couple of things to mention. Selecting various towers from the palette isn't quick or always reliable, particularly with more action on the screen. It tends to not respond to clicks. You have to double-click and wait a couple of seconds for the selection to "lock in" before moving the mouse out onto the play field, or it selects things you don't want. Another annoying thing is that if you click to place a tower as an Orc is walking on that spot, it clears the selection forcing you to go re-select a tower. A real problem when time is crucial. Seems like it should just not place a tower until the grid square is clear. As for price, I thought $24.95 was slightly high, but not outrageous. Considering the number of hours I spent on this game, it was worth it. I can't stand to play most games for more than an hour or two. The game was stable, never crashed and runs reasonably fast on a DP 1.42Ghz G4. [alert admin]

Seasick...

The game play is okay, price is fine, but PLEASE, stop the floating back and forth with the playing field. After about 1 minute I was ready to hurl... [alert admin]

Flip4Mac WMV 2.1.2.72 (Mac OS X)

Quirky update status...

Very quirky that using the built-in "update" won't show this update for a week or two, and further, the so-called "update" on their website isn't even this version. C'mon people, you should have all this in place before you send it to VersionTracker. Other than that, it seems to work fine. [alert admin]

US Search - Public Records 1.01 (Mac OS X)

Get a grip people...

Sheesh....publicly available information does NOT mean FREE. I've been in a business for years that requires me to pull public records, and rarely have I found it to be free. You pay $60 (or $100 or whatever) for someone else to get in their car and spend their $3 a gallon gasoline and go get the files from the courthouse. OR, you are paying a portion of a company's fee that they have to pay to the courthouse for access to the online files. I haven't even used this widget, I don't give a rat's a$$ about the company who put it out there. What irks me is a bunch of whiners who don't even acknowledge what this widget is for. It's a starting point for a paid service. Get over it. [alert admin]

Sentinel 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Not there?

The unstuffed "Sentinel" file is a generic document and won't launch with a double-click. Double-clicking it asks you what program you want to launch it with. [alert admin]

Amadeus II 3.8.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Interesting...

how my comments were deleted from this forum, probably because they were not rosy for the developer. I will state it again. I feel screwed by this developer upgrade policy from Amadeus II to the Pro version. I purchased Amadeus II within 30 days of Pro coming out, and will wind up paying more money than if I had just purchased the Pro version had I known it was coming out. This developer is saying I should have seen the announcements on their website about the upcoming Pro version. I say it should be ANY developers policy to allow a no charge upgrade to a product if it was purchased within a 30 day period. Amadeus II is nothing but a subset of the Pro version, and as such, I would have certainly purchased it instead of Amadeus II. [alert admin]

Omnis Studio 4.2.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Time to move on...

I too have used Omnis since the "early days" on a Mac Plus. I followed the upgrades over the years, spending THOUSANDS of dollars. Yes thousands. I don't know where the other comment poster got their numbers for pricing, but if you want the development kit so you can create both Mac and Windows applications and distribute them, it is going to cost you big time. Then there's the "per seat" licensing pricing. Last I checked, even in quantity, the seat cost was around $80 per seat. Omnis is probably fine for an in-house app development, but not for distribution of small, simple, or shareware apps. At $20 per seat it would still be too expensive for these purposes. The Omnis market seems to be about 10+ seats and up to huge corporate users. Anything less and its more cost effective to use FileMaker, RB, MySQL etc. RealBasic (despite its many issues) is the clear winner for cross-platform development at a reasonable cost (I believe it's $249). I too wrote many apps in Omnis that are still in use today, some still on a Mac Plus. Fortunately, it's easy to get data OUT of Omnis, and I have converted several of the databases to RB and MySQL or Valentina. Omnis, in comparison to RealBasic has turned out to be real bloatware and is a relic of the 80's and 90's that has never really been modernized. I can build an app in RB three times as fast as Omnis with no loss in performance or capability. And don't get me started on 4D... Just my two cents. [alert admin]

that SMS text messages are not free for everyone to receive. People spam my SMS all the time and it winds up costing me money. Use this program responsibly! [alert admin]

Camouflage 1.0 (Mac OS X)

MouseDown...

The only comment I would make about this, is that the menu item should respond on a MouseDown click instead of a MouseUp to make it consistent with other menu bar items. Otherwise, this app solves a small problem I have with a messy desktop... [alert admin]

I'm flattered that you think that's what I am, but I'm not. I guess your pea brain can't imagine what other things public information might be needed for.

I have to upgrade?

It's not that I don't think someone should be paid for their efforts, it's that one shouldn't have to pay extra. Most companies that I know of have a policy that if you've purchased their product within 30 days you qualify for the upgrade at no extra charge. Considering that Amadeus II is just a subset of features of Amadeus Pro, I most certainly would have purchased it instead of Amadeus II. Now instead of a satisfied customer,…

COMPLETE CRAP!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!! LEAVE NOW!!!!!!!

You are right to leave now. Despite the comment from Colourfull Creations, you could still follow their "support path" and it won't change the fact that the program didn't bid when it was supposed to. Contacting support didn't change that fact for me. AND, if you complain about it, they will stop talking to you altogether, rather than admit or fix the problem. As I said in my previous post, run very far…

There are no Mac viruses.

You forgot one type of person... Those of us who run the servers from which you may get your email. Norton works just fine in this situation. Yes it IS important for us to screen for viruses on our email server, as we have both Mac and Windows users. It is primarily for our Windows users that we use Norton.

Screenshot is OS9?

What kind of a vague comment is that? If this is available for OSX, I want to see an OSX screenshot before I pop $200 for a piece of software. Why would a company only show off its product using a screenshot from the oldest system it will run on? It's not hard to create a screenshot. So one has to wonder if they really even have an OSX product, which…

Norton support is built into WebStar V for the Mac. And yes, it does scan for both Mac and PC viruses.

The point is that those of us running mail servers can use this product to scan our incoming and outgoing emails, considering we have both Mac and PC email users of our Mac based email system.
