TubeSock 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I am so impressed This is such a great piece of software and so easy to use! When I want to put bits and pieces of my dvds on the iPod, I use Handbrake, so I am already aware that it can take a little time to convert a video into iPod format. I couldn't use it, however, to get videos from anywhere else, so I started searching for software that would do that. With its current low price, I paid for a registration before even downloading the trial version, and I'm glad I did. It's great! You get integration with Safari that will put a link right into your tool bar so that you can open PodSock as soon as you want it. When you see the PodSock window, paste in the url for your selected video, select your choice of video format (Video for iPod, Video for PSP, Audio Only, Video for Mac, or Video for Flash), and select where you want the file to go (Add to iTunes, Add to Movie folder, or select your choice of folder). Then click on Save to start the conversion. In less than 25 minutes, I had a 4 to 5 minute YouTube video downloaded to my iTunes video folder. (I used the settings for Video for iPod and Add to iTunes.) That was it! I was concerned at first that the file would have a crazy title with cryptic letters and numbers, but the title listed in YouTube was the title I got. I couldn't believe how easy it was to use! This is definitely a bargain at the current price of $15 ! (I would have paid ....well, never mind! Grab it at this price while you can!) [alert admin]

PodTube 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This sounded like a great product, so I tried it out. I tried a 3 minute video on You Tube at first, but it seemed to be forever stuck on encoding. Having used Handbrake to convert my own dvds for the iPod, and knowing how long that could take, I tried another video that was only 57 seconds long. No luck. Again, Podtube was stuck on encoding well over an hour. When I attempted to open the file, just to see what would happen, despite the fact that it never stopped encoding, my OS X system didn't know what to open it with. It wouldn't drag and drop into iTunes, and there was no menu item to get it there otherwise. The final straw was when I attempted to click on "Help". There is no support, it says. I guess you get what you pay for ---which in this case is nothing! I'll be looking at TubeSock. I hope it works! [alert admin]

FlySketch 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)
I've been using a Wacom Graphire Tablet and "pen" for almost a year now, and I can't imagine going back to just using a mouse. Had I known about FlySketch when I bought the tablet, I would have been using it just as long. I didn't stumble onto this clever app until I got an iPod and heard about using VooDooPad, made by the same "company". FlySketch is what I've been looking for to increase the use of my tablet. It takes a little while to get the hang of using the see-through window, capturing the other window you want to mark on, and maneuvering the items behind the transparent FlySketch window. I would like to see "erasing" or deleting marks a little easier than going back and forth to the drop down menu. It also appears, so far, that I have to go to preferences in order to get the FlySketch menu bar to appear at the top of my screen as most apps. do, but I am new at using it. I see a lot of potential use in this app., both for work and recreation. It will certainly get attention of anyone sitting nearby when you use it! As for the price, if you have not purchase VooDooPad or FlySketch, they appear to be available bundled together for $39.99. Go to http://flyingmeat.com/bundles/ . FlySketch seems pretty easy to get the hang of. If you want to save your work, make sure you have captured the window or image you were using into the FlySketch window. Since I was using the FlySketch window in its transparent view, I sometimes forgot I was simply marking on a clear window, and not on the actual image or window behind it. I've enjoyed using FlySketch on a trial basis and will be getting my copy registered soon. [alert admin]
