I have been using ABFR for so long that I don't recall the first version I used. It was back in the old "Classic" OS days when grep wasn't readily available as part of the system. I was hooked then, and the product has only gotten better with OSX. The basic features alone have saved me many hours of tedious renaming tasks, not to mention the grep and file list features. This software makes it a snap to deal with file name transformations. Support for this software is very good. the developer responds promptly and approaches questions about his software seriously and professionaly. He helped me to solve a problem with his software promptly and with great aplomb. Highly recommended! [alert admin]

Both of which add up to a good review. This little app will do everything the author states. It is a helpful "drilling" tool for those pesky weekly spelling tests my seven year old takes. Since all life is a computer game to him, he digs using this app. The ONLY thing that detracted from it was a lack of the ability to customize the interface to be less disruptive to the people around you, there is this long applause clip that indicates a correct answer that is loud even at low volumes and is necessary to indicate whether -or-not the user was successful. The author was very responsive to my questions and suggestions regarding possible improvements in this area. A well-done simple app that does what it says in an elegant way. And the price for this software author's hard work? FREE What more could you ask? [alert admin]

A Better Finder Rename 6.3 (Mac OS X)
This little utility has been around for quite some time. I have been a user since the early days. I am very happy with the way the program is evolving and the latest incarnation is the best yet. Good work!! [alert admin]

Cheule. This software exemplifies why I have been a loyal Mac user since 1987. The author is very responsive as well. Free, well written; in the spirit of the season. Very nice!!!! [alert admin]

GURL Watcher 1.0 (Mac OS 9)
this software to replace a content filtering system (which was inadequate and probably irritated me and everyone else more than it really helped to change foolish human behavior) and in lieu of using a (more complicated than necessary for our small department) proxy server. I was looking for a simple, fairly invisible, logging program that would not be foiled by turning off the history in IE or the oh-so-popular bait and switch using a saved history log to replace one that has gone to "naughty places". This is that software. My POV: There are two ways to deal with people and information. 1. Cut them off. Content filtering or denial of internet use. This won't change their behavior, and in fact might make it worse since, if they are like me, they would like a good challenge to see just how many ways there are to foil this software. They will get to the information somehow. 2. Simply track what they do and let them know that people are watching what they do at work and let them know where they may expect privacy (at home NOT at work). Remind them about appropriate behavior in a group of people, respect for others, etc.. I like this software because it allows me as a manager to let my group know that they are being monitored passively. I am not denying them access through a filter. This tends to be cumbersome at best, and is easy to work around. I have been on the receiving end of content filters and they are aggravating and also foster a sense of "The System" over the little guy. I like to avoid this and deal directly and humanely with any problem employees I may have. Also if there is an occurrence of poor judgment I can lay down this log as proof in front of an offender. I like the simplicity and power of this software. It doesn't slow down browsing or my system. It doesn't cause problems, it just does what it is supposed to do and lets me do what I am supposed to do. Ð [alert admin]
