Hijack iT! 2.7 (Mac OS X)

Regarding Growler and Contact Information

Our email address has always been avaliable from Versiontracker's "About Actionable Intelligence Software" page. It is also listed at the bottom of our home page. Unfortunetly, there was a documentation error in version 2.6, which has been corrected in 2.7. Growl is now a prerequisite for Hijack iT! We are always happy to help our potential users or customers with any problems that they are experiencing. [alert admin]

MPEG2 Works Advanced 4.0.5 (Mac OS X)

VRO conversion Suggestion

I like this tool a great deal, but have not had a lot of luck with the quality of VRO conversions. I recently discovered MPEG Streamclip for OS X, which is a freeware application, that handles this particular conversion very well and would strongly suggest that people who need VRO support take a look at it as an other alternative that might meet their needs. MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)

The Best for VRO conversion on the Mac

I have been using Export2QT for doing VRO to DVD (MP2) conversion, but have been unhappy with the results for VCRO files, although in general I like the tool. Doing an extensive search for another OS X option and I stumbled across MPEG Streamclip. I have been very happy with the results of this tool. It is not quite perfect, although this may be an artifact of the VRO file format which is used by some DVD camcorders and seem largely unsupported by most folks, but it does a VERY good job and handles things like sudden contrast changes (like flash bulbs in the video) very well. I will be using Streamclip to convert all my VRO files from my Hitatchi DVD camcorder to a format for burning to DVD. It also does a great job of converting video for the video ipod. [alert admin]

Hijack iTunes 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Using Hijack iTunes

To clarify a bit: Using Audio Hijack Pro on it's own you can not easily convert, apply filters, etc. to multiple tracks from iTunes in an automated fashion. This tools allows you to setup an Audio Hijack Pro template that not only can be used to convert media, but can also be used to apply sound effects/filters to the music, break the audio files up into conforming sizes (every 30 minutes or something) for long files, etc. When you launch the tool and select a playlist each track in that playlist will be captured using the Audio Hijack Pro template you have setup. Each track will be named properly and saved in the location defined in the template. Due to the usage of GUI scripting there are currently a few quirks, but under most circumstances this works very well. Known issues are discussed in the readme. There are quite a few formats supported by iTunes that many digital players don't support and some that are simply non-standard and/or propietary like Audible's .aa file format for audiobooks. This makes converting those formats to standard, non-proprietary formats simple and automatic. [alert admin]
