Intego VirusBarrier X5 10.5.6 (Mac OS X)
I installed VirusBarrier X5 about 2 months ago on a Dual G5 2.0 running 10.4.11 with 5GB of RAM. I shoot a lot of pictures and I have used a very speedy SanDisk Extreme USB 2.0 CF reader for 2 years that had transfer rates of up to 20mb/sec. However for the past few weeks it had become extremely slow (0.2mb/sec) and "froze" for extended periods of time. Today I disabled the "Real Time Scanner" and immediately my transfer speeds returned to normal. This is an obvious problem that needs to be resolved by the Intego folks. [alert admin]

VueScan 8.4.28 (Mac OS X)
I have a Canon 9900 flatbed scanner and a Nikon 4000ED. The manufacturers software was always unreliable and slow to update especially with new Mac OS releases. I have used Vuescan exclusively for over two years and have not been dissappointed. I highly recommend it. P.S. I have never met the author of this software. [alert admin]

Corel KnockOut 2.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
New G5, Loaded KnockOut 2.0 tried to update as suggested, but updater fails to run. Had to force quit after a 15min wait and no progress. [alert admin]

Nikon Scan 4.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I tried multiple times to install Nikon Scan 4.0.1, 4.0, 3.1.4 on my new G5 running Panther with no success. My LS 4000ED is seen by the system profiler and luckily runs on VueScan without any trouble. Speaks very well for VueScan. Nikon says some customers are having problems and they are working on it, "in the meantime please continue using VueScan" [alert admin]
