Apple Safari 3.1 (Mac OS X)
After upgrading to Safari 3.1 (via Software Update) Google Mail is now almost unusable - for example, when composing a new message, hitting the Shift key moves the cursor out of the compose window and up to the To: field .. very odd. A temporary (though inconvenient) workaround is to switch to Plain Text composing. [alert admin]

I'm on the hunt for drag & drop alternatives (after 5 years of aid upgrades). If anyone has any suggestions, please post. [alert admin]

Recommended! The unix source package (tar.gz) installs (after unpacking and su to root) with a simple ./configure and make install. [alert admin]

Chicken of the VNC 2.0b2 (Mac OS X)
This beta works for me .. much faster (and less buggy) than Timbuktu (when connecting to Windows XP) .. and faster than previous version. Good work. [alert admin]

Mojo Mail 2.6 (Mac OS X)
Excellent mailing list solution and a doddle to install/configure. Note: it's free to install and use, but with a credit to the developer (fair enough) .. there is a fee to run without credits. [alert admin]

FileMaker Pro Server X 5.5v2 (Mac OS X)
We used FMPServer v3 for years with no problems. Version 5.5 was riddled with problems on release and, it seems, still is. Not least of which is that if you use the StartupItem outlined in a tech info article on the FM website it starts the server up as root, which then messes up permissions of backups. This update did not install for me (on a clean G4 with a newly installed v5.5) - it stalls with an unknown error (no 11002:2,-14) and actually prevents server from running. Looks like another clean install. For those who haven't yet updated - don't - wait for those much-needed bug fixes. [alert admin]

jBidWatcher 0.9 (Mac OS X)
.. and it's free. Much better featured than all the other auction trackers out there .. if you can get past the basic java interface, then stick with it .. this does everything you could need .. and more. [alert admin]
