Firefox 1.5.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Firefox 2.0b - faster and so far more stable

I've been using Firefox for a long time, now, but have had stability issues on my TiBook/550 running 10.3.9. So far, the 2.0b seems more stable than 1.5.x.x on my machine. In addition, the rendering engine appears to be much faster and more accurate, even with the new built-in features, some of which replace extensions I had installed. Now, most of my extensions/toolbars/themes are disabled, which is a nuisance, but if I couldn't use 1.5 for long with them, anyway, no harm done. So, so far I give the 2.0b a thumbs up. PandoraMan 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)

Great app, but...

This little app does exactly what it should - replicates the Pandora minimized player, even with the ads to help support the project. And since it's an app, users of 10.3.9 can use it, while a Widget would be for 10.4.x+ users only. I originally downloaded and used PandoraMan on the theory that it would take less RAM to run than the minimized official player in a browser. That does not appear to be the case after all. In Camino and in Firefox, the minimized browser-based player only uses on the order of 60-70MB, while PandoraMan uses about 80MB. Go figure. Anyway, great job on the app, and please keep the ads in to support Pandora. [alert admin]

Kill Monty 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Great stress relief game!

I've had this game since it was introduced and love it on those days when things just get too tense. Or when I have a few minutes to kill. While play doesn't change much at first blush, and the "location changes" mostly in its appearance, there are tricks and strategies you have to learn to deal with the changing number and type of enemies that come at you. Plus, the weapons rock! I particularly like the highest level laser beam. So, if you're looking for a fun, inexpensive way to blow off steam, Kill Monty is it. [alert admin]

what's the point?

That and the processor load. I use a lot of apps at once and will often set up my PB running iTunes so it is connected to the stereo and play my tunes with it while working on the Mini across the room. I've not gotten any of the remote control apps to work except by using VNC. Part of the trouble is that my laptop is still running 10.3.9, but that's only part of…

Difficult and boring

Change the difficulty level to Easy. And you can use Practice mode to get the hang of it, too.

Audium Or fire?

"Adium provides encryption ... via Off-the-Record Messaging (OTR). If your contact is not using an OTR-compatible messaging system, your contact will be sent a link to the OTR web site when you attempt to connect.
