Audio Recorder 3.2 (Mac OS X)
Amazing piece of software that is perfect for recording mono or stereo sources in high pressure situations where it has to be right. The software's simplicity goes a long way toward this goal. I recorded a 30 minute wedding with flawless results a couple of days ago. One reviewer mentioned problems with recording beyond 1 hour 50 minutes. I have tested Audio Recorder and this is not the case. I set the file type to Apple Lossless stereo with 1 minute save to disk intervals for a timed 2 hours using the built-in mic on my MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM using OSX v10.5.4. From my communication with the author, Apple Lossless may be one of the least reliable format available for recording, thus it was a worst-case test and Audio Recorder passed with flying colors. Even though I did a bunch of surfing, email and Word 2004 writing during the recording period, there wasn't a single glitch. This may be due to the minor 10% CPU cycles required by Audio Recorder. This is Mac software the way it's supposed to be done. I even tried without success to make a contribution to the author. Amazing. [alert admin]
