EdenGraph 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)
Appears to be useless, like many graphing applications ![]()

As near as I can tell, there is no way to control the ranges on x and y independently, which makes any graphing application completely useless. The zoom in and zoom out are completely insufficient for all but the simplest graphs. Any graph that has large outputs compared to inputs, or vice versa, cannot be graphed without being able to control the variable ranges independently. I can't imagine why anyone would bother to write a graphing app with this limitation... [alert admin]

it's incomprehensible to me that the developer keeps adding feature after feature without fixing the increasingly evident problems. it appears that the constant crashing is improved somewhat in the latest versions, but the app is still essentially unusable since it drops all connections other than "web gnutella" (which is of course useless) after several autorun cycles. this used to be the most useful P2P app for mac (if you knew how to use it correctly), but now it's just a frustrtating waste of time. i'll probably keep downloading newer versions hoping for a miracle, but i fear the developler has become so enamored of his bells and whistles that he's made this beast so complicated, he'll never be able to iron out the bugs. shame on him for making the old versions that actually worked expire. bah. i wish i'd never registered. Holy cow.... I thought the gnutella network had gone in the crapper since it's been so long since I've been able to get much, other than really mainstream stuff, with it. Then along comes this gem. It took me about four minutes to get two songs I downloaded at home yesterday, but forgot to bring with me to work - and it took about two hours of searching and waiting to get them yesterday, using limewire, xnap, eetee, iswipe... i'm shocked at how well this works. i also went through the slow process of producing what purportedly is a boot cd, but it doesn't work. it starts the startup process, but hangs at the grey apple splash screen. better at causing emergencies than helping address them. [alert admin]

i've been a very outspoken supporter of iswipe in the past - i still maintain that all of the "i've never been able to download a single thing" rants come from people that didn't bother, or aren't smart enough, to use the autosearch feature. but the last few versions are a disaster. it's crashing more than ever, and worse still, if you try to change the download directory from the default, it loses the files. iswipe tells me it was downloaded, and the progress meter showed an active download, but after it's done, the file simply can't be found anywhere on my hard drive. hugely frustrating when you've downloaded a hard-to-find file. LimeWire X 2.8.6 (Mac OS X)
awful, but i'm sure it's not limewire's fault - it's gnutella. i've been looking for a definitive answer, and can't find one. what happened to gnutella? you can still find really common music, but anything that's not on the charts, you can pretty much forget it. i don't get 1/50th the search results i used to. what changed? and i'm convinced that the myriad reviewers that can "never download a single song with it" simply haven't figured out how to use the auto search feature. (without it, you probably can't download anything.) but this version is by far the worst i've ever used. i see no enhancements over previous versions, and it crashes constantly. i suspect (and hope) that this one will be replaced very quickly. to the stability issues, because it's not too bad for me. crashes maybe once a day or so with constant use - i can live with that. i had tried iswipe several times using regular search and download, and like many reviewers could never download a single thing. then i discovered the secret: use the auto search feature. it'll keep looking and trying until it gets what you need. this is now BY FAR the best thing out there for hard-to-find music. if you're looking for britney spears et al, any damn thing will work. use limewire and shut your hole. but if you have unusual tastes, use iswipe and the auto search feature. interface features mean little to me: i just want something that can find the obscure stuff i'm looking for, and this does it better than anything i've found in the post-audiogalaxy world. XNap 2.2 (Mac OS X)
app frustrates me more than any i've ever used. the search results are absolutely phenomenal â013 by far the best of anything in the post-audio galaxy age for hard-to-find music. but downloads are so rare that i feel like i should cry with joy when something actually downloads. i've had files that i've literally found on searches over 100 times and have never been able to download. if they're available enough that i find them on search day after day after day, why in god's name can't i download any of them? AAAARRRGHHHHHHH! [alert admin]

i DID pay the man, back when the mldonkey was first added as a premium "feature" that required a registration code. then it never once worked... it would always fail when trying to install that feature. i sent repeated emails asking how to fix the problem, and never even got the honor of a response. bah.
