DiskWarrior 4.0 (Mac OS X)

A great product but

I have to hit Alsoft for unbelievably POOR Customer service, an ordering system that doesn't even send you a confirmation email, and a threat of non-refundable purchases (hello, chargeback). I've used DW since version 2 and while it's a great product, the fact that new customers get their stuff immediately but if you go from 3.0 to 4 or egads try to use DW on Panther or Tiger, you can't unless you buy a new disc, is just plain ridiculous. I would not recommend this product for these very reasons, it does not warrant all these positive reviews. there are competing products out there that have caught up, and I don't believe Alsoft should get away with this horrendous service model. Cocktail 3.7.1 (Mac OS X)

This simply works

I used Onyx for a while. It didn't work for me. I've used Cocktail for a very long time and not had one problem. I've had it resolve many issues when my Mac just starts to act a bit weird. I trust Cocktail. I can't say the same about Onyx; free or not. [alert admin]

MoneyWorks Express 4.1 (Mac OS X)

can it import qif?

just curious if this program will import QIF data from credit cards and banks online, and if the time billing program is a time-management program like iBiz is that can create an invoice purely on time and job function? [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Works, but not well. I don't recommend it.

After six or so months on FAP and installing it about five times (after a clean install because my fonts were a mess), i have to say it's time for a review. this software interface is very nice. it's easy to set up (i got used to doing it several times) however, it DOES manage system fonts even though you don't want it to (don't believe me? load helvetica neue and then watch dashboard widgets go awry). if you try to tell it to manage fonts, it won't do it. i clicked and clicked... nothing. support is negligible for a program that is OUT OF CONTROL PRICEY. i did get answers, but they mostly circled around 'dump prefs, reinstall, etc etc' it also decided to create it's own font library although i asked it not to. it also is INCREDIBLY SLOW at launching fonts. so much so that i have to open and close documents to let the fonts catch up with the documents (i get warnings on files all day long, then BOOM the fonts are there when i relaunch) i'm convinced this software is not any good. sorry. Extensis Suitcase 11.0.4 (Mac OS X)

worst. font management. ever.

the fact i had to ditch this program once i went from panther to tiger and that the developer has yet to solve all the bugs in tiger (albeit they are full of excuses) makes one's head spin. i used it for two years with my old system. it wasn't perfect, but it worked. most of the time. but now.... extensis' products will never touch my machine again. FontAgent Pro 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

beats suitcase, but still not great

this program has destroyed my dashboard widgets. support is good via email, but the documentation is awful, and the tool to have it manage your system fonts is not-functional (it tells you you are not 'authorized' even if you are an admin user). i recommend it for small number of fonts, but i don't recommend it for large libraries at all. it's also incredibly expensive. name

doubt it. it describes exactly what it does. as long as you note it's a trademark and not affiliated with sony in any way, you should be fine.

Not ready for beta…

i'm not sure where you get your info on who uses it in a professional environment, but just go to the adobe forums and do a search. you'll find many people have used it in their production environment, and with the exception of the font agent pro fanboys (perhaps you are one?), just about every single person who uses FontExplorer really likes it. i'm a font agent pro user, former suitcase and former atm deluxe user. i'm…
