ImportServer 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Price discrepancy

Although it is listed at $10 here, the Weird Kid website lists a "Single User" license as $15. [alert admin]

iGTD 1.4.5.6 (Mac OS X)

Site moved (apparently)

Word has it that the developer is contending with some personal problems (see this thread in the iGTD forums) so there hasn't been an update recently, but it appears that the site has moved to:

http://igtd.pl/iGTD/

Alpha versions attempting better compatibility with Leopard can be found at the site at:

Plasmatube Screen Saver 1.0 (Mac OS X)

As reported by others, no plasma

This on a G5 2gHz Dual, 1.5 gigs RAM, 10.4.11. Tubes are drawing but there's no "plasma." Run in Quartz Composer it loops at approx. 60 fps, but no plasma. Are there assets that need to be included that you've omitted from the package? Good luck! [alert admin]

MenuCalendarClock for iCal 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Version 3.0 is Leopard ONLY

It appears that version 3.0 is a Leopard only version, which is hard to tell from the list of changes.

To get your old version back, visit the Objectpark Software and select the version appropriate to your OS version. At the center of the page is a box which reads:

Download
MenuCalendarClock
for Mac OS X version
10.5 – 10.4 – 10.3 – 10.2

Got my 2.7.5 back that way. [alert admin]

Spyder 1.4.2 (Mac OS X)

Gee, I don't understand the animousity -- this is a pretty solid app

I've been using Spyder for several weeks now with few problems. Yes, an occasional crash, and the way the program functions as well as its general abilities are not always readily transparent. A good online demo or step-by-step guide, in addition to the help files, will be very welcome.

And, yes, the price seems high, but not when compared to other network browsers.

But would you say you had fewer problems with Word? Mail?

Spyder has simultaneously cut down on my MySpace workload by simplifying the process of keeping track of new friends and commenting to them, while increasing my workload by the ease of discovering new friends of similar interest.

The updates are of course welcome, but it would be very helpful to hear what changes and fixes the update incorporates, here and/or at the developer's website. [alert admin]

LifeSavers 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Produces lovely images, but....

These screensavers produce absolutely lovely images -- especially the Mandelbrot saver. However, it would be so much more interesting to see the the Mandelbrots growing in process rather than simply the final completed image.
Also, on my system, OS X's System Preferences unexpectedly quit several times while dealing with the more memory intensive of these savers (although, to be honest, it may have been due to a low memory situation created by running multiple apps). [alert admin]

Fetch 5.2 (Mac OS X)

The best of the bunch

I have been using Fetch since, what was it?, OS 7?, and have faithfully upgraded to each new version and happily paid the shareware fees. It is without question the most stable, transparent, easy to use, and rock solid of all the FTP clients I've tried (which include, among others, the "duck," the "truck," and the "captain"). I've found it to work in situations where other apps were just stymied. [alert admin]

ABGTalkFixer 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Works as advertised! Kewl Beanz!

You rock, dude. Does what you say it does.

Two suggestions for your "read me":
* Explain to the console illiterati (a group to which I belong) that your utility can be run simply by dragging the ABGTalkFixer executable file directly from the Finder into the open Terminal window.
* Point out that the user can easily uncover the newly Jabber-ized contacts by typing "gmail" (no quotes) into AddressBooks search field.
Many thanks for this! [alert admin]

Superman Returns 3D Screen Saver 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Everyone's right!

Yes, it's cheesy. Yes, it's useless. Yes, if you watch too long you may suffer from vertigo. Does it work as advertised? Yes. Does it crash? Not in my usage. My eight-year-old and I like it! [alert admin]

PandoraMan 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Brilliant!

At last I can redirect the Pandora output through my higher quality USB-out with Detour and leave Firefox's output in the Mac speaker, although how much longer Detour will continue to function is anyone's guess :-( . Also seems to require fewer system resources than other ways of accessing Pandora (browser, Pandora Widget).
Makes me happy! [alert admin]

Would be great if it worked...

Because Entourage doesn't support mailing of the page from Safari. That works with Mail.app. Which is why this is called "Send Complex HTML with Inline Files 2004 - 0.4.1 for Entourage."
